This post is brought to you by UberEATS.
We’re one week into December. How are you holding up? I know the holidays can be nuts. There’s gift shopping and cookie exchanges and post office visits and Elf on the Shelf duties and parties to attend and trees to decorate and Christmas movies to watch and on and on. And I admit, I’m into it. I love it all! But sometimes I feel like we’re so busy during December, that I’m hardly seeing my family. Which drives me crazy! Because all this fun holiday stuff that I love? I really only love it when I’m enjoying the activities with my family.
So last week, after a long day of photoshoots, I decided to give UberEATS a try. I use Uber regularly and love it, so I don’t know why it took me so long to try UberEATS. I wish I’d tried it sooner! The whole service was as easy and smooth and affordable as I’ve learned to expect from Uber. And it turned what could have been really stressful ending to the day, into a relaxed, family-filled evening.
This is how it worked. I opened up UberEATS on my phone and it showed me hundreds of local restaurants — including all of our family favorites. I chose a restaurant and it pulled up the full menu, then I ordered what we wanted. And boom that’s it! UberEATS sent me a confirmation and let me know when to expect it, and a little while later, an UberEATS driver was on our doorstep with two big bags full of food. Heaven!
Speaking of when to expect the delivery, UberEATS is fast! The average order only takes 35 minutes from start to finish. You can track the whole thing with your phone — so you can see when the delivery is close. And I love that the payment gets handled on your phone, so the exchange on your doorstep is simple — just the handoff of food, no fumbling around with cash, or a check, or a card.
The food we ordered was delicious, everyone got to order just what they wanted, and the whole thing happened so fast! In the time it would have taken us to find everyone’s shoes and jackets and get out the door, the food was on our countertop.
On another night, we might have tried to divide-and-conquer, with Ben Blair heading out to drop off Olive at practice and picking up something for her to eat on the way, while the rest of us make do with something mediocre in the pantry. But instead, we were able to calmly eat as a family, and enjoy each other’s company, before heading off to our busy evening. No time needed to prep or pickup groceries.
I’m always so happy when I try a new service or technology and it really helps. I can see myself using UberEATS a ton throughout the holidays. There are so many disruptions to our normal schedule in December, that our usual mealtimes and dinner prep habits go out the window. Think choir rehearsals and Scrooge performances and holiday parties. I’m all for letting UberEATS lighten the load!
Say I signed up to bring dinner to Oscar’s team banquet, but don’t have time to make it? I can order from UberEATS instead and have it delivered right to the middle school. Or when my friend has a baby and I really want to send a meal? I can use UberEATS to have it delivered to her home.
You’ve got enough to take care of during the holiday season — let UberEATS help out, and help you feel good about what you’re feeding your family.
How about you? Have you ever tried UberEATS? I say go for it! The first 100 readers to use the code DESIGNMOM10 on UberEATS get $10 off their first order. If you try it out, I’d love to hear how it works for you.
