Olive’s Turn

Dip-dye dress by Kandy Kiss. Leggings by Old Navy. Shoes by Salt Water Sandals. Floral headband by Gymboree.

Of course (of course!) Olive wanted (and rightly deserved) a chance to model her back to school clothes. Olive is 7. She is starting to phase out of her pink addiction and on to more sophisticated shades — even some occasional brown.

I’m sure you are tiring of wardrobe posts, so I promise this will be the last for awhile. As with Ralph and Maude, many of these items were already in Olive’s closet. I’ll list sources where available. More pics of Olive’s photoshoot here.

Plaid shirt and roll-up cargo pants by Target. Turquoise tee by Old Navy. Sneakers by Adidas. Western cut floral top by Ralph Lauren. Corduroy mini by Old Navy. Cable-knit tights by H&M;. Brown Maryjane’s by Payless.

  1. oh please don't let this be the last photo shoot. I was hoping you'd do one about your toddler son (since I have a toddler son) and also one with you!

  2. I'm so happy to see that she has Saltwaters! I grew up in them, and my kids are, too. (Actually, I still wear them, as they go up to women's size 11.) I've never seen them outside of California before, but "all" the little girls and boys wear them here. They wear like iron. Love them!

  3. What beautiful, stylish children. Their fun wardrobes are a wonderful reflection of your great taste. How fun to see them develop their own sense of style (that actually works and looks fun, hip, and age-appropriate!).

  4. i LOVE that you mix cheap and brand name clothes. being able to mix and match with style and price makes your kids' wardrobes great!

  5. So cute! My daughter is 6 so I'm inspired to steal a couple of these looks for her. And because I have a elementary school age daughter, I'm not tired of these wardrobe posts.

  6. I love these posts! I love when you share pieces of your family.

    Olive, you are ADORABLE!!!
I love your style. Your bro and sis looked awesome too, but yours was my favorite! Shh, don't tell :)

  7. Thanks very much to you and Olive for being willing to share these fun ideas! I have a 7-year-old daughter also and this will be our first school year not wearing uniforms every day! yea! I'm so excited to show her these pics and see what she comes up with. Best wishes to all your kiddos for a great school year.

  8. I love seeing what other girls my daughter's age are wearing (and not what the stores say they should wear). Thanks!

The headbands … did you make them?

  9. I love your posts of the kids' clothing…they are so sweet and they allow each one of your kids to have a moment in the spotlight, plus, it gives such awesome ideas for putting together kids' outfits. Thanks for putting them together.

  10. How much fun is your little girl having playing supermodel! Isn't that just a dream! I'm so glad to see that not everyone dresses their children in some of these trashy styles I see in the stores these days. Makes me glad to know I have a son- but it also makes me afraid for his years down the road!

  11. You have me frantically searching online for the red sweater from Target!! Help! Help! Pretty please, throw me a bone! ;) Is there a brand name? I’ll scour eBay for eternity to find it!
