I’m so excited to share another Olive Us episode today, because this one feels magical to me. It’s called Lost Theater, and we filmed it in France. While we lived there, we became friends with Roger and Colette Sineux — the parents of our landlord. The Sineuxs were so good to us. Very welcoming and kind. In fact, on the day we arrived, Colette prepared the house with a fire and a homemade cake! Anyway, Roger and Colette live in a wonderful home with an old barn on the property. During one of our visits, Colette mentioned there was a theater in the barn and invited our kids to check it out.
Well. When we opened the door, we just gasped. It’s an amazing space! The light filters in beautifully, and it’s full of props and costumes and sets from past productions. When we visited, the theater hadn’t been used in awhile, so it had a romantic, dusty feel, and the whole family felt as if we were “discovering” the space. It was so dreamy we just pinched ourselves, and kept saying things like, “Can you believe this place really exists?”
Over a year later, as we were brainstorming Olive Us episodes for ulive, we remembered the theater and knew it would be the perfect spot to film something special. I hope you enjoy the show!

Magical indeed- every-time I see one of your “olive us” productions…my heart warms…so wonderful to see children using their imaginations.
Happy Day
What a magical place!! Can you imagine living there with kids and be able to tell your children: go play in the theater! That would take their creativity to a whole new level…
Oh, that was magical, perfect and beautiful. June couldn’t be any cuter. x
My favorite one by far! It was like a fairy tale.
WOW! Was it ever a working theatre for the community or just something your friends set up for their children? I love the special cinematic touches that “Tiger in a Jar” included: the creaking door, the dust particles in the light…and the cobwebs. Brilliant!
Magical !
Ps : i remember June’s teardrops when she had to leave and let the dress !
Hey, it’s you!

Oh, I love this and I know this video is just as special for the Sineux family as it is for yours.
Ohmigosh! June looks so adorable in that dress! It looks like a 19th century portrait! This theatre looks amazing and so fun – I don’t think you’re ever too old to play dress up with costumes like these!
This was the dreamiest thing I’ve seen in a long time. It reminded me of what my siblings and I imagined we were doing when we played dress up as kids. Loved this!
Sweet little fantasy!
Wow. What a great time! The possibilities of that place. I am dreaming of that back drop for a fun “opulent ” family photo shoot! It would be so perfect! Filtered dusty light streaming in, family all dressed to the nines. Fun Fun.
We are huge Olive Us fans in this house and while I wanted to wait and watch the new episodes as you posted them, my kids begged and begged to watch them one right after the other the first day we found them on ulive. This one is a definite favorite. Ralph’s delivery always makes my kids laugh and they are so interested in Betty’s genie. I can’t tell you how often they request to watch “Ghost Town! Ghost Town!” out of the clear blue. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Charming! What a treasure!
Oooooooo, love! It reminded me of when The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. . .when the children discover the old house and then the room and then wardrobe and then. . .Narnia! I almost expected a faun to step out on the stage with your kids. <3
How charming – what a gorgeous place! :)
Oh so lovely! Like something out of a russian ballet. The NutCracker!
I want to do a concert in this theater!
Wow, it is completely magical! Surely a place like that can’t really exist. Those things are only in storybooks. I am blown away by all the places your family has gotten to experience. Such a wonderful episode. Thank you for sharing!
