Olive Us: Episode 8: How to Set Up A Study Space

Just in time for back-to-school season, here’s the latest episode of Olive Us: How To Set Up a Study Space. It’s a really cute one!

We filmed this episode at my mom’s house in Mendon, Utah.

Matt and Julie of Tiger in a Jar had such a great vision of how to make it charming. I love the music they found! And a big part of the charm is definitely the fantastic illustrations of Merrilee Liddiard. (Do you know her work? Her excellent blog is called Mer Mag.)

I hope you enjoy the show!

P.S. — More Olive Us videos.

  1. Oh I love the style of that video, especially when the table magically appeared. Olive is such a natural in front of the camera.

And yes, I agree that the illustrations made it that much more charming.

I am totally inspired to try making videos. Do you think you could give us some tips on making our own videos?

  2. Gabrielle, I showed this to my 6 year old son last night and he immediately made a study space in the corner of our living room and went straight to his homework! His study space includes a globe, an abacus, and his beloved composition book. After he was done, my daughter sat down with the abacus and discovered all of the ways that you can add numbers to equal 10. She woke up this morning to do it again…all because Evan set up that special study space! Great work, Blair crew!

    1. P.s. my daughter is 4, so the space REALLY inspired her to get her to sit down and discover some new math problems beyond 2+2 and 3+1!

    2. Oh Genevieve! I read your comment to the kids and it made the whole family really happy. Hearing about iewers setting up their own study spaces in response to our little video is just the best response ever. Thank you!
