When you think about this year, who would you say made your life extraordinary? Who is that person who lifted you up and reminded you of the goodness in life? Who did you count on? Who surprised you? Who inspired you? Who loved you? Whoever they are, I’m sure you would you agree: there’s really no better time than the holidays to let them know.
For me, two people that come to mind are my dear friends and long-term business partners Laura Mayes and Laurie Smithwick. And this is why…
I had some major upheaval in my business life this year, related to my conference, Alt Summit. I had to make really hard decisions and I had to take some big risks, personally, financially and time-wise. And I couldn’t really talk about it in public. But through it all, I would talk to Laura and Laurie. Two people that I actually met on the internet, and grew to love, before any of us had met in real life. This year, they offered support, wise counsel and friendship. And I couldn’t have made it through that rough spot without them.
I’d love to honor both of them with gorgeous, luxe cards, and let them know how they had an impact on me this year. And I think the Hallmark tagline is perfect: Because there are no ordinary people, these are no ordinary cards.
What do I mean by no ordinary cards? Let’s take a little tour of some of my favorites. Look at the deep embossing, and 3D details, that compel you to touch:
Check out the layered paper sculpture filled with incredible details:
Notice the laser cut wood, and kid-friendly felt decorations, that are designed to be removed from the card and use as an ornament:
Oooh and aaah at the bejeweled cards that you can’t help but treasure:
And take in the die cuts and glitter — in color schemes that will make you smile:
Last of all, and probably my very favorite, is this one, which encases teeny tiny Jingle Bells that really ring!:

At the beginning of the post, I asked you to think about someone who made your life extraordinary this year. I don’t know who came to mind as you reflected, but whoever they are, I hope you get a chance to honor them this holiday season. What a beautiful way to spend time and energy!
And if it’s not too personal, I’d love to hear your stories. Who came to mind for you and why? How do you honor the extraordinary people in your life? Do you have people in your life like Laurie and Laura? People that provide friendship, and also wisdom?
