Is anyone reading here a fan of Fixer Upper? Of course you are. Clearly, the whole country has a crush on Joanna and Chip. And why wouldn’t we? They’re delightful, super talented, incredibly hard-working, and so fun to watch.
In addition to her wildly popular television series, did you know Joanna created Magnolia Journal as well? And yes, it’s every bit as wonderful as you would expect. It’s a pure pleasure to flip through the pages — browsing the useful information and inspiring ideas. Plus, it’s Gorgeous with a capital G.
The latest issue, Spring 2018, is especially dear to me (I have 3 copies!) because our beloved Treehouse is featured. The theme of the issue is Intentional Living. How awesome is that? It’s a topic which I’m sure you know I’m passionate about. What a treat it is to have our home included.
Here’s sneak peek of the article, but I hope you’ll go pick up the magazine and read the whole thing. Joanna interviewed me about how we create a beautiful home that works with six kids. There are lots of excellent photos of our house — and a fun picture of my family on our swings too! In fact, the feature takes up four full spreads (8 pages).
You might remember that I mentioned the photo shoot for this article a few months ago — magazines work many months in advance! It was a two-day shoot and it was so much fun. Hilary Rose Walker came to our home to style it for the shoot. She has fabulous taste and helped prop everything out and bring out the best in each room.
Edmund Barr was the photographer. A total professional. I was amazed at what he could do — even as light started to fade and we hurried to capture one more room.
The whole shoot was so much fun.
Yes, the feature of our home is obviously my favorite part (I’m clearly biased), but the whole issue is packed full of wonderful content. You’ll love it, I promise.
Question: If you were going to be featured in a magazine, and you got to choose the person who would interview you, who would you choose?
P.P.S. — If you’ve found Design Mom because of the Magnolia Journal article, you might enjoy reading more about the Treehouse.
