Happy International Women’s Day! I’m going to spend time today learning about women who have made big impacts and who were previously unknown (or little known) to me.

I’m starting with this new feature in the New York Times called Overlooked. “Since 1851 obituaries in the New York Times have been dominated by white men. Now we’re adding the stories of 15 remarkable women.” They aim to make Overlooked a permanent feature and they even have a form where you can nominate people.

I’m also enjoying this post that pays respect to 31 inspiring figures. It features short, informative write-ups, including one on Wilma Mankiller. She was principal chief of the Cherokee Nation from 1985 to 1995, making her the first woman to lead a major tribe in the United States. The illustrations are so good too!

What are you doing to mark the day? Found any great links related to the day? Please share.
