I know July has really arrived, because we sang patriotic songs in church yesterday. Hah!

It feels a bit strange with the holiday falling on Thursday this year. It makes for an unofficial long weekend, you know? Our plans? We’ve got tickets to the A’s baseball game on July 3rd. It’s an annual tradition — they always have a game on the 3rd, and after the game you can go on the field and spread out blankets and watch fireworks. It’s pretty darn magical, and definitely one of our very favorite Oakland traditions. Then on Thursday we’ll keep it pretty low-key — maybe watch a local parade.

If you’re inviting friends to grill this week, or need to add something to an Independence Day potluck, or just want some summer food inspiration, I’ve got everything you need:
