I believe that every holiday needs a playlist, don’t you? Tunes to play while you’re wrapping presents, decking the halls, baking cookies for the neighborhood exchange, or just lounging with a mug full of hot cocoa in front of a roaring fire.
For me, one of the tricks to a festive playlist is balancing genres. Start with something timeless, like Nat King Cole or Burl Ives, then kick it up a little with Darlene Love and Bruce Springsteen. Add some modern touches like She and Him and Michael Buble. In between, sprinkle all the songs that will make your kids smile (like this one!), all the songs that make you want to dance, and all the songs that make you stop and remember what the season really means to you.
This year, I’m adding David Ian’s album to my mix. There’s just something about Acacia’s voice that makes me want to replay Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas ten times in a row! You probably have your favorites, too. Will you share them with us?
P.S. Magical print by Beth Retro Photography, and many more like it available here. I love that she has a cat named Jazz!
