What are your favorite Instagram accounts lately? Three of the accounts that make me smile the most these days are @CheapOldHouses, @AccidentallyWesAnderson, and @NYPL — they’ve been sharing entire classic novels in their Stories.
Cheap Old Houses is exactly what it sounds like. It’s essentially images of beautiful old houses that are currently on the market at rock bottom prices. I think the most expensive one I’ve seen listed was around $100,000, and the cheapest was around $7000. For real. There’s so much pretty architecture in our country. This feed makes me want to buy and renovate ALL THE HOUSES.
Accidentally Wes Anderson is a feed of images that look like they would be right at home as the set of a Wes Anderson movie. The range is wide — a church, a bake shop, a swimming pool, a tent, a train — but all the locations feel proper and balanced and interesting and special. A lot of them have really great typography too. I never read the captions on these, and I don’t actually know where the images come from (I assume they’re sent in by readers?); I just enjoy the imagery.
The third account I mentioned, by the New York Public Library, seems to be trying something new, and it seems like a really fun use of Instagram Stories. Here’s part 1 of Alice in Wonderland.
What about you? What’s your favorite feed on Instagram these days?
