A Few Things

November 22, 2013

By Gabrielle.

Hello, Friends! How are you? Was it a good week? I feel like there’s something in the air today. I’ve got some sort of pre-holiday goosebumps going on. I’m sure it’s partly because four of my kids are out of school all of next week for an extended Thanksgiving break, so it feels like the last “regular” day before the holidays really kick in! How about you? Are you feeling it? Or has Thanksgiving snuck up on you?

One exciting thing: we bought a plane ticket for Ben Blair to go to France in December! He’s meeting with the architect and some contractors to get the roof replaced on The Cottage. That’s giving me goosebumps too! I started feeling nostalgic and looking through our images from France — I thought these fall ones were perfect to share on a November weekend post. And here are a few more things I’ve wanted to share:

- A DIY turducken decoration for the kids table!

- A company in Maine sells Hobbit Houses. Thumbs up.

- A woman’s take on Movember.

- Did you know you could be allergic to the cold?

- So impressed with Green Bag Lady’s efforts. She gives reusable shopping bags in exchange for a promise. Details on her blog.

- Wow! Coin looks amazing. Thanks, Sara.

- Feed your travel bug with Tiny Atlas.

- I want like 10 cans of these for my office.

- This Thanksgiving toolkit includes cute printable place cards and conversation starters about giving.

- The importance of daily rituals.

- A light-filled bedroom + playroom.

- The Fatherhood Project: What did your Dad do wrong? What did he do right?

- What are you planning for Thanksgiving table decor? Here are 11 gorgeous ideas!

- I know so many of you were moved by this week’s home tour, and you’ll love to know there are tons of outtakes and additional photos on the Wolf’s website here.

- I just launched the most fun (and easiest!) Pinterest contest with Petit Collage. Simply repin to win! Details here.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend! I’ll meet you back here on Monday. I miss you already.

kisses,
Gabrielle

Just wanted to say that I was so happy to see the hobbit houses featured here – the company is owned by a past coworker of mine and her family.

And I adore your blog!

I look forward to this every friday.

I have a sister who is also allergic to the cold. She gets hives but luckily doesn’t have it as badly as the women in that article. She jokingly told me at one point she thought she was allergic to cold and then found out it was real. Still seems so crazy.

Allergic to the cold? I knew it! I used to live in the Midwest and the last few years I was there I would get hives on my arms when cold air blew on them. I’m allergic to several different foods and my family thinks I’m a hypochondriac so they just rolled their eyes at me. I am so going to forward this link. Ha!

Thanks for sharing my turducken target. I hope he finds his way to a few rowdy kid’s tables.
