Julia Paul’s pottery shop has me grimacing at our less-than-beautiful plain white dishes, but in a good way. I love beautiful ceramics!  Since floundering in my high school ceramics class, I have a huge appreciation for the art. And something about plating even the simplest dish on a beautiful plate elevates the entire dinnertime experience.

Do you have a thing for ceramics, too? Any favorite places (online or offline) to find beautiful ceramics? And I’d love to hear if you’ve actually thrown any of your own designs or dishes!

P.S. — Pottery has me thinking of the gorgeous collection the Blairs inherited with the Treehouse.

I’ve never thrown a pot myself, but my uncle Glenn Allenspach (in Minnesota) is an amazing potter! We have mugs and bowls and plates made by him that we’ve had for more than five years, dishwasher-safe, microwave-safe, and they look gorgeous. Definitely thinking about getting more for Christmas this year. :)

I keep a running pictorial list on my computer of the things I will make when I finally take a ceramics/pottery class(es). So when I get there I will know exactly what I want to make and what items will be useful to me. A water pitcher, a huge bowl for bread making etc.

I totally have a thing for ceramics. Like you, I floundered in ceramics, even after taking 4 (FOUR!) classes. I love good pottery, especially with such pure colors. You featured some gorgeous pieces.
