A Few Things

Deer Valley, Utah

Image and text by Gabrielle.

Hello, Friends! I’m writing to you from Deer Valley, Utah today. I’m here for a very short time — I’ll be back in Oakland tomorrow — but what a treat it is to be in the mountains and get a taste of crisp fall air and a glimpse of changing leaves. It’s beautiful here!

I’ve got to head straight to work, but here a few things I thought you might enjoy:

- A 3 minute commercial that made me weep.

- A new Harry Potter film?

Six words you should say today and every day.

- Neon in the nursery?

- Hello Colorado! Free Alex Boye’ Concert tonight.

- If you’ve ever shopped at Whole Foods (which I love!), you will giggle.

- Oh my goodness, so cute (and so odd?).

Cheats’ guide to calligraphy.

- Hey, all you writers in San Francisco, this sounds cool.

Metronomes! ScienceThanks, Sarah.

- Am I the last to see Oh Joy’s new Studio?

- Alt For Everyone, the online conference, is happening next week. And there are still a few more spots available! Are you going?

- Fall arrives this weekend! Here are 20 Pretty Ways to Use Fall Leaves.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend! And I hope you get to great the new season with open arms. I’ll meet you back here on Monday. I miss you already.

Isn’t that great! Such a simple thing, with so much impact.

Studio C on BYU TV did a hilarious sketch about shopping at Whole Foods. I wish I could remember which episode but it is worth the search.

I’ll go look it up! Thanks, Marian.

My ears just perked up, a new Harry Potter film?!?!

Enjoy your time in Utah!

I felt the same way! My reaction was a could-it-be?-gasp.

Oh gosh, I just cracked up at that Whole Foods article (and I’m a Whole Foods shopper, myself). Happy fall, Gabrielle!

Same. I find Whole Foods delightful, but the article was hilarious.

Love Whole Foods! Search “Whole Foods Rap” very, very funny. Ralph will love it.

Will check out it. Thanks, Megan!

You are in my town! I live right here in Park City. I am glad it is such a pretty day for you! The fall colors are not very vibrant this year due to a few low water years and an extra hot summer, but it is still beautiful here! If you are on Main Street get a treat at Rocky Mountain Chocolate… Yummy Carmel apples! Have them slice it for you , it is easier to eat that way. have Fun!

Oh my goodness. Our hosts had Rocky Mountain caramel apples for us as dessert! Mine was called Apple Pie and I devoured it.

I just found your blog & am really enjoying reading through your posts.

And I noticed your “Favorite Pinner” series. How can I be featured as one of your favorite pinners? I hope you will check out my Pinterest page. Thank you!

Me too, on the weeping. Thanks for sharing. The thing I needed today.

I keep watching that commercial. And I cry every time.

Thanks for sharing all those cute ideas for Autumn leaf crafts.
Last year I made garlands with leaves that my kids collected. I ironed the leaves between two pieces of wax paper to preserve them which worked really well. They kept their colour without fading at all even though I had them hanging in a window for almost a year. Unfortunately they were crushed in my recent move.
Might have to give the glycerin leaves a try – although they do mention that they start to lose their colour after a few weeks.
You can see my leaf garland here: http://www.littlehiccups.net/2012/11/autumn-leaf-garland.html

The wax paper is such a good idea, Sally! Thanks for sharing.

I was skeptical about the commercial but man, I’m with you. Weeping.
