I was unable to breastfeed my first born, but if I had been able to I would have done it where ever needed to the delight or not of others. The idea of hiding in a bathroom stall has never once occurred to me. It’s illegal for a mother to be asked by any public establishment to stop/cover up and if it was some ninny in the park that approached me about it, well my baby wouldn’t be the only one getting a mouth full.

I really don’t know how you can travel so much with kids!

Loved living vicariously through you. You need to change your “about” paragraph now to reflect your current, and I am sure equally beautiful, surroundings:)

We’ve made Family Fun’s school bus cake to celebrate the first day of school ever since my oldest started kindergarten. That first year, the younger kids and I made the cake to surprise him when he got off the bus. Now that they’re all in school, I make it by myself (with moral support from the dog!). It wouldn’t feel like the first day of school without it.

P.S. If I ever come across a young woman struggling with the idea of feminism, I think I’ll just show her the Coffee Jerks video. Enough said. :)

We always cook and eat it at home.

It is comforting to them to have a conversation about the first day while eating something they love.

This will be the first year both of our kids start on the same day…so each kid gets to pick their favorite that night. We’ll see if it winds up being the same dish.

Love little traditions…

It’s called Infinite City by Rebecca Solnit. It’s a non-traditional atlas with a collection of twenty-two (beautiful) thematic maps of San Francisco. It’s really lovely and fascinating and I think you might like it.

Boatbound sounds wonderful! I love boats of all kinds and would love to spend more time on them.
Have a relaxing weekend, Gabrielle!

Good Ground by Tracy Winegar. You can get it on Amazon or watch the book trailer (who ever knew they did a trailer for books…I guess I’m behind the times, ha!). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBei5Nj3LAk Let me know if you’re interested and I’ll send you a copy!
