Jacadi Paris

By Gabrielle.

Here in France, Jacadi is THE quality brand for children. If you’re trying to get a sense of how a little French boy or little French girl dresses — for school, for the holidays, even for summer vacation — taking a peek at the Jacadi windows will tell you everything you need to know. The style and styling of their clothing is quintessentially French. Very traditional lines with modern touches. Details that make each piece feel special. And so well made that you’ll be handing them down to your future grandchildren.

Happily, Jacadi is sold in the U.S. as well, and even more happily, the Jacadi big summer sale just started today. So we can all get a little piece of French style at a deep discount — up to 50% off!

Design Mom's Favorites from Jacadi's Summer Sale

Here are some of my favorites from the summer sale. For baby girls, I love the scalloped booties (so French!) and the gingham dress.  For toddler boys, I’d pick this peacoat (and save it for the fall) and these Euro swim trunks. (Fun fact: In France, board shorts aren’t allowed at public pools, so the boys run around in swim trunks like these.)  For school age girls, how about this pleated skirt — or this gorgeous drop waist dress would be perfect if you have a wedding to attend. For older boys I like the color block hoodie and the tab sleeve tee. And for tween girls, I’d would pick this double-breasted cardigan and retro-striped dress from the Mademoiselle Jacadi line.

Tell me, Friends, is Jacadi a brand you’re familiar with? I was introduced to their clothes when I lived in New York, and my friend Kathryn gave me a Jacadi hand-me-down — a sweet little dress. I still have it! Both Betty and June wore it. And maybe their kids will wear it too. : )

No, I haven’t heard of Jacadi…but that is why I frequent your fabulous blog! I learn about so many things outside of my little world, thank you!

What a kind thing to say, Heather! Thank you.

The store takes its name from the children’s game Simon Says. It is called “Jacques A Dit” in French.
Yes, they are on Biblioteksgatan in Stockholm near Normanstorg. There is on in my middle sized French town as well on rue de la Poste.

Oh my goodness! I know the French name for Simon Says, but I’d never made the connection. How fun! (Which I realized means I’m a dunce, but there you have it.)

jend’isère, are you sure they are there in Stockholm? I live there and I’ve not seen it on Biblioteksgatan and I visit there quite regularly. It’s very annoying as you can’t even have their clothes shipped here from the website.

This post brings up so many memories. My mom used to be obsessed with Jacadi when we were kids. She couldn’t wait to see the new collection each season and treated our Jacadi clothes with so much care…

That’s one chic mom! And I know what you mean about treating the clothes with care. They really do feel like a treasure that should be handed down.

I grew up wearing Jacadi! They have a store in Montreal (where I was raised) and they always had a jar of little Jacadi candies with blue-and-white wrappers. Two flavours – one with a baby blue wrapper, the other with a navy blue wrapper. I was OBSESSED with those candies, and would fill my pockets whenever we stopped by the store. Seriously, this one of my strongest sensory memories from early childhood. I hope they still have them!

I LOVE specific memories from my childhood like that! Now I need to get myself to the nearest Jacadi to see if they still carry the candies… : )

Yes I would agree with Heather! I frequent your blog to keep abreast of what is going on in the world of design, fashion and culture. I’ve never heard of Jacadi either but I’m always looking for classic clothing for my children. I am pregnant with my third and love to be able to pick out a few new outfits that they can have as a keepsake when they are older and have their own children.

Congrats on your pregnancy, Aimee! How exciting.

aw i remember wearing these clothes when i was little! there’s a shop here in barcelona too, i think! but my favorite store for french clothing for kids is “petit bateau”. i suppose you’ve already heard of it, i love it!
in the movie “le petit nicolas” there is this scene where all the kids at the school are wearing petit bateau classic underwear, so cute!

13 Design Mom June 6, 2013 at 3:28 pm

I’ve never seen the movie, but we love Le Petit Nicolas the book!

And I’m a huge fan of Petit Bateau as well. No one beats their undershirts and underwear! They are our go-to shop for casual, quality basics. But if we need something special or classic, say for Christmas or family photos, we know Jacadi will have something perfect.

I’ve been to their store here in Las Vegas. They have beautiful clothes.

I absolutely drooled over a dress from them before, but it was on clearance, and they only had it in one size smaller than my daughter wore (I didn’t know then that I would have 4 more girls, or I would have bought it!), so I went home and sewed a dress inspired by the one in the store.

I have a few of their designs in my children’s clothing design images for inspiration as well.

For sure. If I was a seamstress, I imagine I would love gazing at their designs for inspiration.

In France, I believe you must wait for the official Soldes. But in the U.S., the summer sale is happening right now.
