Remembering spaces that she would have loved as a child spoke to me too. It’s a stroke of inspiration – how often we impose our adult ideals on our little ones, but as children we had brilliant and bright ideas. I’m definitely going to put my thinking cap on and find some of those memories to put myself into my children’s shoes. I too am amazed and impressed at Ruth’s routine with 5 children, a large house and a creative job, also something I needed to hear!

Where to begin? I love the recycled wood on the wall behind the bed and I have such bookcase envy! I love a home that has the kids in mind. It looks like a very fun place to live. Thanks for sharing!

It reflects so many of the same things that we value — reading, art, creativity, family time. It’s lovely. :) It encourages me to know that it took you a year and a half to design it — gives me hope for our own house journey. And “mercies new every morning” is a wonderful encouragement. XO

A little country town an hour out of Sydney sounds idyllic, Caroline!

And yes, the maps are vintage from a local primary school.

Your wish list sounds almost exactly like mine would sound were I designing a home from scratch for myself. Especially connection between levels and windows on both sides. It’s such a beautifully executed home, it makes me wish I could come for a visit. Just so lovely!

Is it Ikea? I love Perth. I would choose to live there if we ever moved back to Australia, but most of our family live in QLD. Are the wall maps vintage? Love those too.

I love everything in this house. It’s so perfect and yet so real. It is inspiring as well to see your beautiful art and hear how you find time to fit it in. If you can do it with five kids, I must be able to do it with four!

What a lovely home and family. As a fellow work-at-home mom, I resonated with the phrase: “…the two little boys are supposed to nap during this time.” ;)

Thank you for inspiring us to create home atmospheres that are wholesome, creative, thoughtful, and peaceful.

The bookshelves from floor to ceiling, the looong table, the studio space and parental suite…… Beautiful !! And what an intelligent family program : “wholesome activities” and lots of reading. I am really inspired (though I do not believe in God as Ruth does) !
