Paul Schneggenburger captures “the tossing and turning of lovers” by shooting couples sleeping over the course of six hours. Volunteers slept from midnight until 6 AM in his studio, lit by only candlelight. The result are these ominous black and white photos.

Are you a ‘tosser and turner’? Do you sleep better alone, or with your partner by your side?

I wouldn’t give up sleeping with the mister (and sometimes a baby and sometimes a 4 year old) for anything, but I tell you truly, there is something so nice about having a bed to yourself once in a while!

It’s so funny you should write about this. My husband is away for work for the next few days, so I’m experiencing this right now! I find it so funny that I slept just fine all alone for the first 24 years of my life, but only 5 years into our married life I find I can’t sleep nearly as well when my sweet guy’s not around. I actually have to toss all the throw pillows on his side of the bed to fill in the space before I can get some real solid rest.

Haha I seriously agree with what Christa said – I love cuddling up with my husband, but having a bed to myself when he leaves early in the morning is amazing.

Wow. These are gorgeous! I do love sleeping diagonally in a king-sized bed when I travel alone, but I’ve noticed that I wake up more often when I’m not sleeping next to my husband.
