Even though I’m a huge fan of bold fashion statements (Hello? I’ve worn two peacock-feathered wreaths! At once!), I’ve never really been one for prints whose volume is at full blast. So at first glance, printed denim never really had a chance with me.
However. Seeing some of the more muted options paired with a trusty grey tee, navy peacoat, or cream silk blouse — all of which currently live in my closet! — makes me want to reconsider.
Have you tried printed denim? If so, was it a shock to get used to all that pattern?
P.S. — Yesterday was Maude’s birthday. Since we spent the day traveling home from Ireland, we postponed celebrations until today. Her birthday gift request? Printed denim.

I’m surprised how much I’m loving my printed Gap Skimmers–especially when paired with a neutral top. So much that I’m considering a second pair!
My daughters were just asking me about getting some printed jeans. They love the look of them. Feel like I am having a flashback to the 80′s when I see some prints.
I love printed jeans!
I like the neutrals complimenting the floral printed wowness. makes my heart sing just a bit. xo
Did you see this quick/easy printed denim DIY from Merrick at Merrick’s Art? I think they turned out well and she said it only took 15 minutes!

I was surprised at how much I like my grey animal print denim. I don’t feel it is too bold. As a stay-at-home mom I can rock ‘em “safely” :)
I think I’m too old to wear printed jeans. I like them on younger people though. I could possibly do a subtle polka-dot or something, but nothing wild. I usually prefer the pattern to be on the top half of the person like in shirts or scarves.
I call printed pants “fancy pants”. I own several pair now and am in LOVE! My best denim are a pair of black and tan polka dots. Give ‘em a try and you will be hooked too.
I got a pair of polka-dot jeans for Christmas, and I LOOOVE them! I’m even thinking of getting another pair of printed jeans with something a little more adventurous. Try it, you might be surprised!
I did printed denim back when it was popular before in the 80′s and I cringe when I see it in the stores now. I second the thought above, that I’m too old for it now but it looks great on the tween crowd. I think the same thing about all of the neon that can be seen too.
I’m just not sure about it… just a little too 80′s for me. ;) Although I could be persuaded. I’ve seen a few really cute pairs on Stitch Fix’s Instagram feed!
I love the look!! I wasn’t sure myself but my younger sister convinced me to buy a pair and since then I’ve been obsessed. They are so fun! I pair it with neutral pieces and just let the pants be the statement. :)
Last spring printed denim was all the rage as well. I tried to embrace the trend, but could not got any further than a pair of hounstooth-print pants…
