Yes, I painted out a block of color that matched the length and width of the bed. Since the bed went passed the window, I took the paint there too. It’s a fun detail that my daughter really likes.
I love that IKEA blanket too, by the way, it is so cozy and stylish! XO, Camilla

I lined the inside of that china closet with burlap coffee bean bags, picked up at a local coffee shop (I got them for free – just had to ask). I measured and cut to fit the glass panels and attached to the inside with upholstery tacks. You could also use hot glue to attach your fabric panels if the area around the glass isn’t big enough to take a tack. So easy! Let me know if you give this a try. All the best, xo, Camilla

Ours is exactly the same. The teal paint going into the window looks neat — was that to go along the length of the bed? It is a great trick. We have the same gray/gray wool IKEA blanket… it’s a warm one. Thanks for sharing.

I have a similar one with glass that I use as a pantry but would love to hide what’s behind. Where is the burlap(?) fabric from?

*I can’t figure out how you would open those bedside table drawers?

I wish I could remember the exact paint color we used in our daughter’s room, but I cannot. I know it was a Martha Stewart brand paint from Home Depot – it is teal. The white is just a basic flat white. Hope this helps, xoxo, C

The rug under the coffee table is from Home Goods and the teal one in our bedroom is from Joss & Main. I’ve also had pretty good luck with rugs on Overstock.com, Cost Plus World Market and Urban Outfitters. All the best, Camilla

Ours are so well worn like that. They need to be refinished but we keep putting it off. We just need to get away for a week and have someone come and do it. That would be so great.

Where did you get the rug under your coffee table, and the turquoise one in the bedroom? I LOVE them and it’s exactly the style I’ve been looking for in my home but can’t find anything like it!

We also have an older home but multi purpose rooms. But it just feels like home to me.

Also, can you tell me about your piano benches. Our old bench is falling apart.

thanks.

Great home, great story, thanks for sharing!

I love it! We too have a smaller home, so I do agree and know first hand the importance of keeping your decor simple so that your home seems more spacious and functions better. We have this belief in our home that every time we think we need a larger house, our home makes itself seem just a wee bit bigger for us so that we will never leave it:) Thank you for sharing you home! And Camilla, your blog is Fabulous!

What a lovely home. It was truly inspiring to see things I have never before seen in a home tour. I love that you seem willing to try anything (the stairs, the turquoise block of paint that wraps around a corner, the white chest of drawers in the kitchen, the soft stools at the head of the dining table…) I would call it “impeccably relaxed.”

We’ve had tremendous success with our money tree (the large potted tree in our dining room). I picked it up at Home Depot for under $40.00 about 6 years ago. It is very happy and aside from regular watering, pruning and the occasional dose of plant food – it thrives on its own and has doubled in size. I highly recommend this type of plant. Hope this helps! Take Care, Camilla

We have recently moved into a 1940s beauty with 10-foot ceilings and I love the look of your indoor “tree’:)

Your home is beautiful and I loved how you chose to share it with us – real photos of real moments in your house. The number stairs are so playful and the painted rug in the dining room. What an inspiration to bring a bit of fun and whimsy into our homes.
I love your dad’s art work. I’m so sorry for your loss. What a great treasure to have something of him in your home for always.
