When we told him we were watching “The Princess Bride.” He gave us a look like we were insane and suggested it might be better to show that to his little sisters. Later he said, “My favorite movie is the Princess Bride, but if I said that at school everyone would make fun of me because only one other person has seen it.”

It was funny- some of their friends didn’t get the humor.
Another ‘must see’ is Lady Hawk, which was a pre-classic to Princess Bride. (I’m a little bit older than you ladies) If you are a Ferris Buehler fan you’ll be in shock)

It’s under 2 min. and totally worth watching; it’s pretty funny to see these sports guys quoting PB as part of their football analysis.

He took me at my word :) When we bought our first DVD player that was the first movie he bought for me.

My favorite line, if I had to pick one, is “This is true love. You think that happens every day?”

We do the whole rhyming converstation ending with “Anybody have a peanut? ” And then there is “Why are you smiling? Because I know something you don’t know?…I am not left handed…”
Along with the twulove and marwidge
All good memories…we had the vhs and just barely got the dvd as we no longer have a way to watch the vhs. It gets played a lot.

Another favorite of mine that I recall first sharing with my son is “The NeverEnding Story.” I need to watch that again with my little nephew and niece…chances are I’ll enjoy it most♥

Thank you for putting these up. I LOVE when a graphic or illustration perfectly captures nostalgia. The Princess Bride will always be a favorite, and has special meaning: When I first starting dating Andrew (my husband) and learned he owned a copy of the book The Princess Bride, I knew he was “the one”. We watched the film many, many times together. And nine years later, we named our first son Wesley. Yes, we named our son after a movie character (it is actually Westley, but we opted for the softer-sounding Wesley). AS YOU WISH!! xo Danielle

The whole Cliffs of Insanity sword fight is amazing, beginning with the “You seem a decent fellow, I hate to kill you. – You seem a decent fellow, I hate to die.” bit, followed by the “I… am not left-handed!” part (“I’m not left-handed either!”) and all the way through the “- Who are you? – No one of consequence. – I must know. – Get used to disappointment. – Ok.”

This is my favorite movie ever, I can quote it from top to bottom… I watch it twice every year: once on my birthday (yep I also watch Groundhog Day in Groundhog Day too) and another time during the Christmas holidays. I got married last year and it was one of the wedding themes: the wedding ceremony started with the “mawage” speech, there were peanuts in all the tables with an “Anybody want a peanut?” sign, and also chocolates for the “mostly dead” during the dance.

Unfortunately, since I’m Spanish I don’t usually get the chance to quote it (I can’t stand it in Spanish but that’s how people usually watch movies here so they don’t understand the references :S), but with my husband I do it all the time (poor thing, I made him watch the movie so many times he already knows most of it by heart too :P). “Not to fifty!!!”, “As you wish”, “I’m waiiiting!!!”, “Everybody mooove!!”, “I would not say such things if I were youuuu!”, “I do not think it means what you think it means”, “You rush a miracle man, you get rotten miracles” are among our favorites.

I can’t wait to have kids and watch it with them, I hope they like it or “I should be very put out!” ;)

You can find it lots of places, but also here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CtBYLFcQzJs
