Happy New Year from Venice!
We started off 2013 with fireworks over the water. Crowded and cold but grinning ear to ear.
How about you? Cozy and quiet? Dancing? Parties? Did you kiss in the new year? Or maybe blissfully sleep through the first minutes of the day? However we spent last night, I hope at least some of us were lucky enough to sleep in this morning. : )
Here’s to a wonderful 2013!

I really enjoy your blog! Happy New Year!
Wow. Thank you, Jane! I’m so glad to hear it. Happy new year to you too!
Venice is beautiful — what a glamorous way to spend NYE!
We had a terrific New Year’s weekend. We went dancing with new friends on Sunday night, and then spent the night with them at their farm, which turned out to be the most amazing, Vermont Gothic, 1870s farmhouse. Brunch and ice skating on NYE morning, and then we came home, for sparklers, a bonfire more ice skating on our own lake, a spin in the hot tub, and flaming plum pudding at midnight. I got up this morning and made homemade Golden Grahams for my little — we’ll go sledding later.
Margit, that sounds absolutely magical. What memories!
Happy New Year! I spent the night with my husband and four other couples. We drank champagne, ate treats, and played boardgames. Our son was having a sleepover at his grand-parents, so sleeping in this morning was lovely:)
High five to the grandparents! So good of them.
Sleeping… I think. At some point, a baby woke us up to nurse so I may have very well been awake during those first few minutes!
Hah! I’ve had my share of New Years Eves just like that. : )
Happy New Year!
May we all find what we seek!
And if you’re lucky enough to have found it, look again! ♥
Great sentiments, Tasha.
We’re all sick, unfortunately, so we were all sleeping soundly. The previous two NYE’s we were in Amsterdam, so this one was a bit of a change! Still, lots of family snuggles. Happy 2013!
I hope you’re feeling better, Maria!
Fireworks always make me happy! I had to cancel my New Years Eve plans because I was to unwell :( I did however manage to stay up and see the new year through snuggled on the couch and watched the fireworks in London on the TV and I was really impressed!
I’m the same way about fireworks, April. So happy.
We were sick so we listened to the city’s fireworks from bed and prayed our girls wouldn’t wake up and think a world war had begun.
Venice is on my must-visit list. Hopefully in a few years…
Happiest of new years to you all.
Oh man. Sounds like lots of friends were sick on New Years Eve. I hope everyone is feeling better now.
With our family at home! Cozy. Nice.
Showed our 6-year-old the countdown in Tokyo (I think) at about 8:00. We yelled, blew horns and jumped up and down with him. Off to bed with Isaac…
At 11:00 (12:00 New York time) we watched the ball drop and had a silent observation. By silent I mean we were screaming, yelling and jumping up and down with no sound coming out of our mouths so we would not wake up the 6-year-old. The 10 and 11 year olds thought that was very funny. Off to bed with them….
The rest of us slowly made our way up to bed before Midnight. We were all just fine with that.
Happy New Year!
Oh my goodness, Pamela. That is adorable! I think I need to copy you.
Nice and cozy inside with family, but wouldn’t mind trading for water view in France. Happpy New Year!
Happy New Year to you too, Kelleyn!
So beautiful. We decided to have a quiet cozy evening at home. I think next year we might do something a little more exciting though.
Sometimes, cozy at home is exactly what I’m craving.
We were at a budget hotel with our two kids in preparation for flying home today. not a very exciting New year’s Eve but happy to be home today!
I’m happy to be home too!
Gorgeous. Just gorgeous. Happy New Year, Gabby!
Thank you, Diana.
Venice must be the perfect way to ring in the new year!
We had an open house for friends to come and go as they pleased. We rang in the new year with champagne and card games. It was perfect
Sounds perfect! Card games and New Years go together somehow.
happy new year, Gabby!! have an awesome trip!
Happy New Year to you too, Tere.
Happy New Year! I rang in 2013 on the island of Boracay. It was beautiful. White sand, waves, and fireworks all along the beach for at least an hour.
Happy New Year, Gabrielle! My family and I started the new year in Brooklyn, watching fireworks in Prospect Park. :)
