Winter Solstice

Happy Winter Solstice! For those living in the Northern Hemisphere, tonight is the longest night of the year. The days will only get longer from here.

In 2010 a lunar eclipse coincided with the winter solstice. William Castleman took shots every 20 seconds to film it and the result is absolutely incredible. Watching this reminded me how absolutely amazing the universe is and just how small we all are.

P.S. — If you’re interested, a star party and constellations in a jar.
