You have a beautiful home & I love your approach of keeping things simple. But what struck me even more was when I teared up reading about how hard it is to stop having babies. I completely agree. I just had my 3rd a little over a year ago at age 41 and I know I’m done for many reasons not the least of which being pregnant in your 40s is really tough (at least compared to having my first at 28). But I’m so sad about it too. It’s a strange thing to grasp that a certain stage of your life has passed. And I too wish I had nuzzled those sweet soft fuzzy heads a little longer! How quickly they grow and become independent little beings all their own and you’re left with a strange mix of pride & sadness.

Beautiful home and family. Loved what she said about her style. I find myself worrying when I can’t describe or narrow down my style. I like how she says you just have to get over that. It shouldn’t matter if you’re surrounded with what makes you happy. I’ve missed the last few tours and this was the perfect one to come back to. Thank you!

Gathering inspiration from (*cough*snooping*cough*) other people’s homes is so great, so I love this series.

But oh boy is this my favourite! I was going to quote this bit:

“We wanted our children’s first moments to be ingrained with something much larger than themselves”

Because oh yes gurl! I totally get what you mean. But then there was so much which spoke to me! Honest, humble living … the joys of small spaces … that fantastic description of your land … a blank slate for play, all of it. Your home is beautiful, Andrea (especially that quilt in the winter landscape!) – thanks for sharing!

The rocking horse, the teepee, the landscape… so much beauty and simplicity. Sometimes I long for the sights and smells of nature right outside my doorstep, not just for me but my children. And I agree, babies are indeed intoxicating and addictive!! Thank you for sharing.

I love seeing “smaller” houses. Especially smaller houses with more than 1-2 kids. I love seeing the logistics behind it, and how they are decorated, and how they are lived in. In Texas, many have that “bigger is better” mentality and I struggle with thinking we need more space and being content with what we have. It flip flops each day. Everything about this home is lovely!

This home was one of my favorites. My husband and I are very big proponents of minimalism and used home goods/furniture. I find reusing items extremely satisfying. I would love a house next the woods where children could romp and burn off energy. Andrea, your kids will really appreciate this environment now and into the future.
