The necklace is a Mother and Child Pendant called Big and Little Dipper Constellations. The meaning behind the necklace? In Greek mythology, the constellations Ursa Major and Usra Minor — you know them as the big and little dippers — tell the story of a mother and her child united safely together for eternity.
The tiny drops of sterling silver in this pendant represent these beautiful star fomations and may be worn as a reminder of the eternal love that exists between a mother and her children. Doesn’t that make you melt?

I looked at all the pretties at Blue Poppy, and I have to say, I agree with you! The Big Dipper/Little Dipper pendant is my favorite. And I’m especially smitten with it because just the other night my son told me he could see the Big Dipper and Little Dipper in the glow-in-the-dark stars affixed to his ceiling. (I lied and told him I could, too!)

Love, love, love this pendant. I have been on the search for a necklace to symbolize the connection I have with my child. Although I love the necklaces that are popular now, with the birthstones and names etc…I really love the symbolic nature of this piece, without it blaring “I have kids”.
