By Carter.
When Louisa May Alcott wrote Little Women, she held dear those fleeting moments between childhood and womanhood. Even now, with no hints of childhood left in me, these words still resonate. What a timeless reminder to be fiercely courageous. Even in the aftermath of a storm.
Do you like the pretty design above? Do you like beautiful words? Well you’re in luck! I’m going to pick my favorite quotes from children’s books, and Emily McDowell is going to design them and make them available as prints. Isn’t that wonderful? You can find the sailing print here.

I can’t tell you how excited this makes me! (Excited enough to comment, which I almost never do!) Children’s books! Design! Perfection!
Oh, hooray! Happy, happy morning!
I love Little Women! Such a lovely book! (And it probably was not write for children, but tells us a little about the stages of women’s life). By the way: the design is very charming!
I loved Little Women. Maybe I should read again now that I’m older. Love this print. What a great idea.
This one is so perfect for my daughter’s room!
It’s totally going in my studio!
I LOVE that! I can’t wait to see more.
Great first choice! What’s next, what’s next, what’s next? Don’t keep us in suspense for too long please.
Love your enthusiasm! I feel the same!!
love! Can’t wait to see more!!
Beautiful … the quote and the design! Little Women (and Ramona & Beezus. And the Little House series. And …. oh, I better stop) made me fall hopelessly in love with reading. Thanks, Ms. Alcott.
Oh, Ramona. I made paper towel shoes because she did. Sigh.
Right?? Ramona was the one and only reason I wanted a little sister. She was just so accidentally bad, and I loved her so much for it.
I know! She just wanted to love and be loved!
FANTASTIC idea. Little Women is one of our favs and we’re so excited to see what the rest of this series holds!
Can’t wait to see more! Beautiful and perfect illustrated.
I read Little Women once every year, along with Anne of Green Gables. Something in those two books restores and refreshes me.
I love this beautiful sentence and it’s such a pretty, pretty design!
Ooh! Can’t wait to see what you pick! I will be crossing my fingers that you pick one of my favorite book quotes, from The Runaway Bunny by Margaret Wise Brown:
“If you become a bird and fly away, I will be the tree that you come home to” :-)
Good one!!! LOVE THAT!!
“Let the wild rumpus begin!!” from Where the Wild Things Are.
Oh my goodness! Thanks, everyone! Little Women is one of my all-time favorites too — I loved illustrating this. We’ve got lots more good stuff to come, & I’m thrilled to be a part of it!
