Kochia Hill

October 25, 2012

By Raleigh-Elizabeth.

Proof that fall has arrived most everywhere in the Northern Hemisphere: Kochia Hill has caught on fire. Not literally, of course, but every autumn, this seaside hill in Japan turns into an orange and red delight that would even make Dr. Seuss run for his sketch book. Don’t the bushes — which are summer cypress, or “kochia” — look like they fell out of one of his stories?

Where are your favorite, most breathtaking seasonal vistas? And if you’re living in a climate where the colors don’t change, where do you find your fall fix?

Image of the pretty hill here and an up-close of the cypress here.

Wow! This took my breath away! And before I read your words, I thought of The Lorax! Dr. Seuss, without a doubt.

How beautiful! I would love to see this vista in person :) It seems we’ve hit our peak here my pocket of New York State. Glad we had some nice blue sky days before the rain started this week!

Move-over Holland’s Keukenhof Gardens and Augusta National’s springtime azaleas. Kochia Hill is edging its way up the leader board. Then again, there’s always Greece’s Paros Valley blanketed with butterflies.

So pretty! I agree with the others, it looks like something out of The Lorax! I never knew that kochia existed.

Wow, this is beautiful!
I just love the colours of autumn/fall, I will be sad once all the leaves have fallen off the trees and everywhere looks miserable :(
