Sun, 14 Apr 2013 18:02:43 +0000 http://www.designmom.com/?p=25461#comment-455895 [...] [...]

I am a calligrapher and heartily encourage you to take classes if you’d like to learn. It is such a meditative kind of activity… fun to do and good for the soul, you know? I imagine there are workshops taught everywhere, but I am more familiar with learning opportunities in the U.S. Please feel free to contact me if you’d like more information about resources!

I am now hand lettering them. The reaction from the first one to hit the book shelves here in PA. (“The Boy Who Loved Halloween”) was such a positive warm reaction. Adults and children seemed to like it better, Mom’s said it feel warmer, and like part of the illustration. I have never taken any type of class, I am lucky that my hand writing is fun and legible:)

I know Emily…well sorta, I went to school with her but was a couple of years behind her (and was a friend of her sister’s.) I feel abnormally proud.
Go Emily! Your work is just beautiful, but knowing how talented an artist you were in high school I suppose it is no surprise. Must go order something right now.

Of course, this isn’t the same as Western hand lettering, but it was so much fun and very relaxing!

I love hand lettering, it’s something I never have tried but am absolutely sure I wouldn’t be able to get the hang of so I LOVE when artists offer it up in such beautiful way.

Thank you for sharing this lovely artist!

Such a unique style, and you really read the quotes so differently than you would in normal type. There’s so much more feeling behind them. Love it.

So great! I love the “be yourself” poster and the “scale” one on her website spoke right to me. I’m right at the half way point of 40 lbs of weight loss to celebrate my 40th b-day coming in March. I think I’m gonna buy that poster to celebrate being half way there!

I ordered a small poster because I can’t get enough of the colors and design, not to mention message. Thank you for always directing us to great new finds!
