Book Bag

September 20, 2012

What a cute project! Kate transformed a book into a little clutch, with just enough space for a cellphone and favorite lipstick. She includes the whole tutorial here if you’d like to make one too.

For family outings, I usually carry a decent sized bag with everything we might need, and room for an extra bottle of water. But for my own errands, I love the luxury of carrying a tiny bag, or even just keeping what I need in a jacket pocket, and going totally hands free!

What do you think of this book clutch? Do you need something with a strap? Would it end up lost among novels on your shelves?

As a total book-lover, I have to say that I adore this idea! But. I’ll admit that I’d have the hardest time creating something like this myself. The idea of chopping up a hard-cover, classic-looking book — even for a cool project? E.Gads! ;)

I use to feel that way, too. That is until our local elementary school gave me a bunch of the books they were throwing out. Quite frankly, most of them are junk, even though they have cool looking covers. We’re now using them as art journals. I’d love to do this project with one.

That. Is. Awesome. And for a fancy night out it would be PERFECT for me. (Now, if I could just arrange a few more of those nights…) I usually carry a barrel bag – something big enough for my wallet, lip gloss, phone, my camera, and some snacks. While we’re finally out of the hauling diapers and toys and the kitchen sink phase, my kids would perish without something to eat every 2 minutes. : )

This is awesome. Really, just ridiculously fun and neat. Sell them online or on Etsy?

I would love this simply because it is hand-made & unique!

I LOVE it when I make it out of the house with only wallet and keys. Usually, I’m lugging around a giant bag filled with all kinds of things to be used for various emergencies that hit my 4 kids.

So Awesome!!!

I mean, who reads books anyway? Do this before they all end up in the dump.

I’ve had my eye on this tutorial for a long time. She found just the right purse size for hte makeover; it would be fun to just make one from scratch, though!
