Hello, Friends! It’s Sunday evening as I type this. What a jam-packed weekend it’s been! We started shooting more Olive Us episodes super early on Friday morning and the filming has taken us all over gorgeous Southern Utah. We’ve been hiking in the red rocks and playing in the sand dunes and having lots of adventures — the image above is a sneak peek!
Filming has kept us busy. Right now, we’re on the road, driving north to Salt Lake City, so I’m squeezing in some computer time to write up my weekend roundup. But it’s worth the wait! Here are a few things I hope you’ll enjoy:
- You are what you underline.
- Momfilter interviewed me and asked for lots of details about a typical day at our house. Here’s the play-by-play.
- Make your kids smile with a windshield rainbow.
- Aging.
- Hooray for extraordinary women!
- It would be fun to happen upon a pothole garden.
- This orphanage in Uganda needs a fence. Let’s help!
- Cool necklace from a t-shirt.
- Lots of fun pins this week.
I also write for Babble.com. Here are some slideshows I put together this week:
- Beauty on a budget! 24 tips and tricks.
- Bored kids? Check out these awesome handmade toys.
- I want to throw a confetti themed party and paint my nails like this.
- Homemade cleaning products worth trying!
- 25 Awesome Headboard DIYs.
I hope your weekend has been lovely! I’ll meet you back here tomorrow. I’ve missed you like crazy!
kisses,
Gabrielle

What a wonderful interview! I left a comment over at Momfilter but I thought I’d leave it here, too:
I love this interview! One point that really struck me is that Gabrielle and her husband stay up late together so they don’t feel resentful. This is the first time I’ve heard a couple do something like that and I think it’s wonderful!
Thank you for the kind words, Amanda! It’s easy to stay up late with Ben Blair because he’s fun to hang out with. : )
I read your interview on Momfilter. I am amazed – how do you get two sets of kids out the door in 50 minutes?!
When they were younger, it used to take a lot longer!
I enjoyed reading your interview! And I’m amazed that your kids go to bed at 8 and are still asleep at 7:30 :) It was encouraging to read, we have two kiddos and I am often maxed out. But my husband also travels quite a bit and we are far from family. Thanks for sharing!
Sometimes they’re up later than 8:00 (like tonight when we’re traveling!), but we aim to get bedtime stories read and little kids tucked in by 8:00 on school nights.
sometime it’d be fun to hear how routines change (or don’t change) during the summer
Those gorgeous red rocks are my home. Whenever I make a trip to Southern Utah and see those breathtaking views, I am in awe.
Enjoy your time there!
The red rocks feel like home to me too!
you know what is hilarious? I went through my blog to find the spot/dot/confetti party I threw for my daughter hoping to link it for you. And guess what? In the first line it said ‘I got the inspiration for this party from DesignMom… LOL. you threw a lovely spot party for Oscar when he was 3! so I doubt you need any confetti party ideas from me :)
I’m so glad you shared that! Made me grin.
The interview was a delight – the love and true partnership you share with Ben Blair is so life-affirming!
Thank you, Lola! What a kind thing to say.
Where did you find that amazing VW bus?? Is it yours? Did you rent it for your adventures??? It is beautiful!
Thank you for posting the link to Barb’s Home of Angels Orphanage and her fence building project, wow! I read through her blog and I am amazed at the wonderful work that she is doing for the children of Uganda. We are on a budget so were only able to make a small donation. I hope that more readers are able to help her finish this project.
I love momfilter so much! I posted a comment on there. kudos!
Thank you so much for passing the word along about our Home of Angels in Uganda. Edwin in Uganda and I are so blessed to have people who care in our lives and want to protect these little ones.
If you get the chance, I’d also love to know where you rented that VW from – we’re planning a trip to Utah/Wyoming in the Autumn and that’s exactly what I’m after!
Thanks
