I was JUST going to make the same comment — I’d recognize those steps anywhere. They are the best. YUM!

Gelato is a healthy part of every Italian’s daily diet. So make sure to get at least a few in a day! If you see Salted Pistachio flavour give it a try…it’s delicious!

Gabrielle!

So jealous! If you get a chance, the absolute best gelato in Rome is Gelateria Old Bridge, near the Piazza del Risorgimento. It’s behind St. Peter’s Square, near the entrance to the Vatican Museum. Incredible portions at an amazing price, and all made on site. Soo delicious!

Have a marvelous trip!

What a fabulous photo! Love! It makes me a little sad that I won’t have a pack of my own strawberry blonde/auburns but I am so glad that I am getting to track yours around the globe!

Where’s June?

June is asleep in my arms while Ben Blair snapped this photo. : ) She’s being such a good sport. Traveling for little ones can be hard!

OK, I gotta ask… Where’s June and who’s the mystery child? Oh, and… Great photo! Great spot, great colors… Could be a staircase in any random, Italian village. You’d never guess that this was Rome.

Hah! Great question. I didn’t realize I forgot to share! Our wonderful niece is staying with us for a bit and joining in our travels. Her name is Roxcy and she’s my brother’s daughter. We’re so glad to have her with us!

I knew she was related! She looks very much like you. What a time she must be having! I also had a cool aunt and uncle who took me traveling when I was about her age, lucky girl!

When you wrote you ate lots of gelato, it reminded me of the movie, Under the Tuscan Sun” and her first encounter with the older blonde woman in Cortona. The woman told her, ” Eat gelato. Lots and lots of gelato!”

I thought Rome had the best gelato (though it seems many favor Florence)! Yum!

28 Design Mom April 10, 2012 at 9:45 pm

I think we’ve found more flavor options than we saw in Florence. Yesterday, I tried a black cherry gelato that reminded me of my father. Made me happy.

To see/do: Arco degli Acetari, via Margutta (the street of artists, and also try to have a look at any artist’s studio in that street), the Rose Garden and the Orange park on the Aventino Hill (and the hole in the Piazza of the Knights of Malta), a boat trip on the Tiber.
Don’t forget to throw a coin into the Trevi Fountain…. and to book online the tickets for the Vatican Museums (the gardens are fantastic too!) to save an hour or more of queue!
