Meet the Judges

More Birthdays American Cancer Society

Have you submitted your entry for the Create More Birthdays Contest? I think I’m going to see if my kids want to make a video — maybe Ralph will play the trombone. : ) You should make one too! It would be something fun to do on a boring summer day and it’s for such a good cause. Plus, you might win!

As I mentioned, to help honor more entries, I’m running a concurrent contest with the American Cancer Society called the Coolest Categories Contest. If you enter the Create More Birthdays Contest, your submission will automatically be considered for the Coolest Categories Contest too — that’s two for one!

Today I’m introducing the fabulous Coolest Categories Contest Judges:

Jaime of Design Milk. Judge of the Can’t Get It Out of My Head category.
You probably already know Jaime. But if you don’t know, you will love her! Her blog has been featured in the Los Angeles Times, Time Out New York, San Francisco Chronicle, and Real Simple magazine. In addition to Design Milk, Jaime authors Dog Milk — modern design especially for pets, she speaks on design/design blogging, contributes to a multitude of blogs and works as a business consultant. Jaime’s blog is widely read and she has over 300,000(!) followers on Twitter. Another fun project Jaime is working on: she’s currently expecting her first baby!

Tracey of Shutter Sisters. Judge of the Did That Just Happen? category.
Tracey is a long-time internet super-star and her opinion is trusted by everyone who knows her. She founded Shutter Sisters to help support and promote budding photographers and in doing so created a community dedicated to learning and creativity. In addition, she authors an insightful blog called Mother May I. If you’re new to the blog word and looking for a soft-landing and welcome reception, Tracey is a lovely place to start.

Jan of Poppytalk. Judge of the Gasp-Worthy category.
If Poppytalk isn’t part of your daily reads, you’ll want to add it immediately. It is a constant source of great ideas and beautiful images. If I’m in a creative funk, it’s one of the first places I go to get inspired, and it has been recognized as a top design blog year after year. Jan is a long-time advocate and supporter of all things handmade and curates a shop of some of the best creations out there at Poppytalk Handmade.

Chelsea of Frolic! Judge of the Most Likely to Go Viral category.
Chelsea’s is one of my favorite blogs to read. She has such an eye for great work and she’s a champion of making sure photographers get the credit they deserve. Her blog is popular worldwide — read by artists, editors, and lovers of pretty things. In addition to blogging, Chelsea is also a floral and prop stylist (and one-time flower shop owner), focusing on how-to articles for wedding blogs and online publications.

Can you believe how wonderful the judges are? Such good and great people! I know the contest submissions will be equally great!!

Please help spread the word. If you know a designer or artist who needs links to their portfolio, encourage them to enter. Thousands of people will see their submission! Same goes for the musicians in your life — here’s a chance to strut their stuff and associate with rock superstars. Maybe they will be discovered because of their knock-your-socks-off video.

Who do you think should enter? I’d love to hear!

P.S. — Did you know you can already vote for your current favorite submissions? Check it out.

Aren’t they amazing! They’re part of the more birthdays campaign and you can actually buy them as prints or even wrapping paper. Here’s the link: http://morebirthdays.com/gallery
