Letterpress App

July 6, 2011

Oh my! An app that let’s you try your hand at letterpress and see what the results would be like.

What do you think? Is this an app only a type-obsessed-graphic-designer could love?

I always feel funny blogging about iPad/iPhone apps because I know not everyone uses those devices. Sorry if I bummed you out, Carol!

Very cool. Is there any way to save and print an image?

This is seriously cool, saw it a while ago but haven’t had a chance to check out the app…today may be the day. I have real wood type to play with, but I love technology too, so this is an awesome combo of both loves!

As a type-obsessed graphic designer, my heart is all a flutter over this app! If only I had an iphone or ipad… Someday!

Thanks so much for sharing! I am a typography obsessed iPad-lover, so this is right up my alley. Not sure exactly what I am going to do with it, but in the short term my “you need to clear your moldy leftovers out of the fridge” signs in the office will be SO lovely. Not that my ungrateful coworkers are likely to appreciate them…

I feel the same way. Not sure if there’s a practical use for it, or if it’s more about entertaining my brain.

I was initially excited about this because I love letterpress and I actually have an iPhone, but apparently I’m still not cool enough. Maybe eventually it will at least be available on the iPhone, and not just the iPad.

Either way, the outcome looks cool. Thanks for sharing about it. :)

Now if only they would make it for a Mac Powerbook, I would be giddy with excitement. As it is, it’s got me wanting an iPad!

Looks so fun! If it comes out for iPhone, I’ll have to get it!

What a coincidence! This was actually created by John Bonadies, who is the brother of my mom’s college roommate! :)
She showed it to me a while back, as a preview before it had been released, and I loved the idea- it seems like such an accessible way for people who would ordinarily not have access to a letterpress to experiment!

I WANT THIS!! I’m going to go Google whether or not you can output files that you make! Of course, I don’t have either and iPhone or iPad (yet) but this may just expedite that purchase. ;)
