Girl Walk All Day

July 14, 2011

Here’s something happy to get you moving this morning.

Thanks for the link, Burgin.

Update: I just heard from readers that the music includes not-kid-friendly language. Yikes! Possibly I was too busy dancing to listen carefully. : )

This made me miss the Staten Island Ferry. This dancer is completely fun.

It made me miss the ferry too!

I loveeeee that music :)

I had the opposite reaction to the music, it was a little cringeworthy at times with the language BUT obviously it was the music that allowed this amazing woman to MOVE like that! I’ve never seen dancing quite like that… so talented!

It’s true, she’s amazing! I don’t think I could dance freely in random public place like that. So brave!

So much fun! I love it. Totally made me want to get out and moving this morning!

The music is just part of about an hour long track from “Girl Talk.” He put it up for free download here: (The illegal part is just the name of his label. :) Nothing illegal about it. :) ) My FAVORITE part of the whole thing is Simon & Garfunkle’s Cecelia mixed with another song…SO fun! :) I heard about it first on NPR. Enjoy! It’s worth downloading. :)

I read that they are making a dance video that last the entire length of the album. Very cool.

Fun! Reminds me of Fat Boy Slim’s video for “Weapon of Choice” with Christopher Walken. I didn’t know he trained as a dancer in his early days before moving on to film.

14 bdaiss July 14, 2011 at 11:12 am

Hahaha! I was going to say the same thing – Weapon of Choice is my favorite video of all time and always at the top of my YouTube queue.

And have you seen the Evolution of Dance videos? FUN!

This was really cool, but I’m just glad that this was one of the few times my 5 year old wasn’t within earshot. The song has the “n word” and drops the “f-bomb” several times. So if you’ve got kids who repeat lyrics from every song they’ve heard, make sure they aren’t in the room when you watch the video.

Thanks for the info! I just updated the post to give readers some warning.

The first time I watched this I had to get up and start dancing myself. It was wonderful.

Love GirlTalk and love that video!

I’m known for dancing in grocery aisles. bookstores, and at bus stops when I have my headphones on. I get some strange looks but mostly people smile.

I love the girl talk album “All Day” and they make for some fun spontaneous dance floors for me.

I guess we’re all so used to the naughty now, it hardly phases… next time I watch I’ll bleep in my head!

Glad you enjoyed!

My favorite is the expressions on everyone’s faces. So New York! “Don’t make eye contact. Don’t make eye contact.”

Thank you for sharing this one! It led me to her Bronx/Bollywood creation and the mini Bollywood film she created is delightful. Definitely reminds me to dance more and sit less!!
