Spring break starts this weekend, so I’ve been on the lookout for roadtrip-friendly activities that we can add to the screen time and sing-a-long mix in our car. One of my fellow mom 2.o attendees showed me these coloring/doodle books and I thought they would be perfect! So I brought four different options home for the kids.
The books are really cute. They were created by cutting edge, Japanese design firm, Lazoo, and originally published in Japanese. My kids adopted them right away. Hopefully there will still be some un-drawn pages when we hit the road. : ) There are lots of Lazoo books, but the ones I brought home are Let’s Color, Imagine That, Squiggles, and Holes (I think Holes is my favorite).
Are you heading anywhere for Spring break? Or is a staycation in the works this year?
P.S. — We left our Taro Gomi Doodle Books in storage, but the Lazoo books remind me of those.

Love the Lazoo books!! What a great idea. I think I need to get some for my grandchildren. Thanks for sharing.
Happy SB! Where will the Blairs be heading? Leaving France?
My kids got these for Christmas and they were awesome — the 2 yo loved the sticker book and handing out little pieces of “pancake.”
It’s definitely a staycation for us this time around. We don’t feel too bad about it though, the time is already ticking down on our big move!
oh these look like so much fun! adding them to my wish list!
Holes was my son’s favorite too, although he loved Squiggles too once he figured it out. They’re great books!
I love that holes coloring book. My little one “gave” it to her big sister when she was born. It’s such a fun concept, and you could make pages like it with your kids once they see how the pages connect.
OOOOOOH these are fantastic!!!! I did a write up a couple weeks ago on Herve Tullet’s “The Coloring Book” — have you seen his stuff?? Apparently in France he is know as the ‘prince of preschool books’! I think I definitely need to get the Holes coloring book for my daughter, thanks for this post!! aloha, Melissa
Great Books! Where can we find them? On Amazon? I’ll have to do a google search. I will look into your other suggestion too. My son is only just shy of 2 years old but he loves to color and he loves stickers too (well just peeling them off and sticking them in random spots).
Maude’s room looks awesome too…what a lucky girl she is to have such a beautiful room!

I love this! My 4-year-old tires of coloring really quickly, but I feel like there’s an added dimension of surprise (at least in “Holes”) that he would really get into.
Thanks for sharing!

This look like a lot of fun. I definitely prefer coloring books that are on the more creative side. I don’t know if they still sell them, but as a kid I loved the Anti-Coloring Books series.
I love that you posted about this I was in love. By chance we went o Babies’r'us and they had a whole lazoo collection for girls on sale including the coloring books (for $6) I ended up getting the imagine that book!
This is so great! All of the Lazoo coloring and activity books, as well as board books for young toddlers, are available at Lazoo.com!
Oooo..those are so cool. I definitely have to get my toddler a couple. :)
