Gene Davis Painted Street Ali Loves Curtis

After taking a blogging break, Ali Loves Curtis is back and her posts are as wonderful as ever. A few weeks ago she wrote about the artist, Gene Davis, and how he painted the street leading up to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Isn’t that the coolest? I would have loved to see it in person.

I work just down the street from here (at another local museum), and unfortunately, this is long gone. Benjamin Franklin Parkway is still a grand avenue, but no more stripes.

Gene Davis was responsible for one of my all-time favorite artist quotes: “A stripe is just as real as a godd@mn flower.”

Fun! Sad that it is now gone…
I wonder what it would be like to drive on? Distracting or guiding? : )

Fun! I’m sad to hear it is gone now. I wonder how hard it would be to drive on? Distracting or guiding? : )

Well, thank you and thank you! Did I mention thank you? It really would have been something to behold. Let’s think of a way to recreate it.
