Waterford Institute Giveaway

January 27, 2011

I have two fun giveaways for you today! The first one is sponsored by Waterford Institute™ and the Read Strong blog. They are offering up a 4 month subscription to Rusty and Rosy Reading™ for one child  ($100 value) — perfect for children from preschool through second grade.

rusty rosy reading waterford

Rusty and Rosy Reading is new-t0-me, so I did a little research and this is what I found:
• This program individualizes learning for your child. Extra practice is provided where your child needs more practice.
• It includes over 185 original songs, 240 digital books with beautiful artwork — that’s hundreds of hours of activities and instruction.
• Children can use Rusty and Rosy Reading™ independently — parents don’t need to know anything about teaching.
• Waterford Institute™, the nonprofit organization that developed Rusty and Rosy Reading™, has been developing educational software for 30 years and has invested over $135 million in its software.

What do you think? Does that sound like something your child would benefit from? Perfect! Go ahead and visit Waterford Institute™ and leave a comment below to enter. The winner will be announced on Monday. Good luck!

Ayme is the lucky winner! Thanks for playing!

HI! I teach second grade in an inner-city school in DC. I have 25 kids in my class. We can’t even afford desks, so my kids sit on long tables and my mom and dad buy my students pencils at cosco (and family I babysit for donates everything else). Having differentiated instruction with that many students and one teacher (it’s my first year too) is a challenge that keeps me awake many nights worrying about. I have one second grader who has been bounced around schools his whole life. Well he can’t read, doesn’t know his alphabet and barely recognizes letters. IF I win this, I will use this in my classroom and then give to him for the whole summer. He will work on this every day at recess, reading and anytime I can steal him. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE It would me the world to me. Thanks (p.s. I read your blog everyday and you’re inspiring and awesome)

Waterford is a great place, John O worked there about 12 years ago and we have VHS tapes. I am sure things have changed since then. My kindergartner attends morning K and then attends preschool on T/TH afternoons because I am so worried about her learning she just caught our school deadline and is just 5 now. I would LOVE to win products from your school. Thanks!!

65 Jennifer January 27, 2011 at 10:54 pm

Always great to hear about new products that encourage children to enjoy reading and learning through fun activities, and this program, steeped in years of research, seems like a real winner, with its incorporation of music and focus on independent child use. (As a mother of two children under 5, the independent use thing is a big plus.) Thank you for introducing us to this.

Best wishes on your big move!
