Advent Calendar

November 3, 2010

Are you already thinking Holiday Countdown? Here’s a pretty advent calendar by Uusi. It’s unlike any I’ve seen before.

Pretty! And thanks for reminding me that I need to pull the calendar and start organizing our advent activities!

(Personally, I want that reindeer on the table.)

This is lovely. I have been thinking about it…it’s the first year my son will actually be “aware”; so, I’ve wanted to start some traditions. The first “countdown” tradition will be to “open” (I will be wrapping them all up!) a book each night Dec 1-24. I’ve collected holiday-themed books over the years with the thought that this would be a family tradition. We’ll use the same books each year (hopefully over time it will be a well-curated collection), but it seems like it will be fun to open a new read each night.

For an advent calendar, I want to make mantel garland with little pockets hanging along to fill with a “treat” and someday meaningful quotes and sayings. We’ll see how far I get this year with making one!

Thanks for sharing these!

It’s gorgeous and so well-done. I’ve never seen anything like this before. This, of course, makes me so thankful there are people in this world that are far more creative than me. Who would have thought to change this traditional calendar into a true work of art?! Lovely!

Gasp! I so very much love this calendar. Making an Advent calendar has been on my list since last Christmas and I wanted to make one like this one at Purl Bee: http://www.purlbee.com/felt-advent-calend/

But. You knew there was a but, right? I haven’t even started it and it’s, well, you know, it’s already November. I’m tempted to buy this one and it’s actually not very expensive and it’s free shipping until November 15. Eeeeeeh!

Should I?

Ooh! And I just saw their squirrel gift tags. I think it’s meant to be. Glad I clicked in on you today. Best!

That’s a beautiful calendar! I’ve been looking for just the right advent calendar for a few years now, and I’m not sure that this one is it, but it’s close! It’s similar to the one we had growing up, in that it has windows with pictures inside, like ours did. Also, I love that the photo has the window open on the 14th – that’s my birthday! ;)

I JUST finished unpacking mine. Even the shipping was amazing. It is so beautiful in person. I want to hang it up right now. I also want to keep my children’s little fingers off those windows. MINE!

I love Advent. It makes the a Christmas season so much richer and helps me to be more “in the moment” with my family. The “Jesse Tree” is my favorite family Advent book and tradition.

It will be here before we know it!
