June is 4 Months Old!

September 8, 2010

Flora June Blair had her four-month well checkup at the pediatrician today. Four months? I continue to be shocked at how quickly time is passing. The picture above was taken this morning — she is such a joy! Here’s a fun fact about June: When being carried, she has preferred facing outward since she was born. She is very curious and likes to see what’s going on at all times.

I have loved keeping June in simple onesies for the summer. Isn’t this one above adorable? It’s made by My Three Sons and has a number 6 because June is 6th in line. But the air has been crisp the last few days. Time to pull out more options for layering. (Mmmm. I love fall clothes.)

P.S. — Have you noticed that getting immunizations never gets any easier? June was giggly and happy and flirting with the nurse. Then the needle went in and her face instantly changed to complete terror and pain. Awful!

your baby is beautiful and i agree, shots are the worst! they hurt me more than them to see them in such pain :(

My Oliver had his 15 month shots today, too, and I had the very same thought. It never gets easier. (He’s my 5th.) You’d think we’d get used to it, but it just feels so mean — EVERY SINGLE TIME. So sorry little June!

No, don’t need another! Resist wanting a girl! Too much cute!

Such a cute baby and such a cute onesie!

I do not like seeing my babies get shots- not when they are four months old and not when they are nine years old (that’s as far as my experiences go!)

Happy four month BIRTH day to you!

She is so adorable. Shots are the worst. I don’t know what is worse that baby face that looks shocked at you or my 14 year old who still insisted on squeezing my hand.

What a doll! That shot really captures her engaged-ness. (I’m sure there’s a better word for what I’m trying to say, but it’s late and that’s the best I can come up with.)

awww, she has plumped up a bit :) What a cutie. Love that age..
Shots never seem to get easier… on the kids nor on the grown ups !

What a cheery sight! I am a fan of the simple onesie too. That 6 is also a numerical representation of her name! I love it. (That picture makes me almost as happy as coming home after my first day back at work…which was today!)

Wowza! She is so (I was going to say adorable and I see that the person just above me said adorable. You may have to wait, while I think of another word…) yummy. I want to eat her! She’s getting some chub in those cheeks. Time goes by too fast. I’m working all the time on Touchpoint for Kelly @ Startup Princess and I look at my babies on the floor and think, “I’ve got to stop working like this and love my babies while they are little!”

Kiss that sweet baby girl for me! Love Love Love that you share her with the world!

And probably throw in some betrayal, too — my kids always have a look of utter betrayal. It’s awful and sickening. Hopefully she’s much better and back to her happy self! Adorable onesie & photo — wow how she’s grown!!

She truly is a little ‘doll’. Just perfect in every way! Have you tried nursing during the shots? It helps a little. Depends on which ones she’s getting and how much they hurt, but at least there’s a satisfying distraction!

Four months is my favorite age! They stay where you put them, stay relatively clean and all you have to do is get in their field of vision and you get a smile. Your baby is four months, and my baby just left for college in Hawaii. Time flies!

June is so gorgeous! And HAPPY!

It does not get easier though, I’m afraid. We went to the doctor yesterday for the well check for school (no shots even), and Beatrix was SO SCARED she was shaking. Teeth chattering. This went on, tears streamed down her face, she was begging me to leave, and then it happened. Projectile vomit all over herself and me.

She must just remember getting shots but the last ones were a while ago. I’m so sad she’s traumatized– our doctor is so sweet.

You know what cheered her up? Going to Target afterwards.

She is seriously getting cuter and cuter! What a pretty little girl. And yes- immunizations are no fun. (Though my daughter is more of a trouper than my son ever was… is it true about women tolerating more pain than men? I guess we’ll see…) :) Have a great day!

Wow, this picture totally gave me hope today. I am due with #4 in 3 weeks, and not sure if that day will ever come. Her little face makes me want to see what this one of mine looks like. She is darling!! Thanks for the lift you gave me today without even knowing it.

She is adorable!! Thanks for sharing how she is growing with us.
I hated immunizations, too. I would dread the doctor’s appointment a whole week before we had to go, because of their expression when they got that shot. My twins are 16 months now; so when the first one gets the shot, the second knows what’s coming. I don’t know if that is worse! Aren’t you glad it’s over?

When I brought my daughter to the doctor for her one year check up; she was scared of the doctor, and the nurses. When they came in to give her her shots, she was screeching so loud. When the needles went in, her voice didn’t even change an octave. It was loud, and I was holding her. It was a sad, yet slightly humorous situation. As soon as everyone went out, she was fine and didn’t even act like she was in pain. What a set of lungs:) Fortunatley they bounce back very quickly!

She’s really such a gorgeous baby! So cuuuuuuuute. My little one would only be carried facing outward. She was (and is) such a curious one. In my circle, I would see the moms with sweet little babies snuggled into their chests in an Ergo or sling. My daughter would not have it–she’d be craning her neck to see just what’s going on!

I’ve enjoyed your blog for about a year now; nice work. Whitley, my first, was born 5/5/10. Shots are pretty bad…I’ve found breastfeeding right after has worked well to calm him. I just ask the nurse if there anyone needs the room; usually we can hang out adn nurse a few minutes.
