Remember when I was the guest judge for the Minted Birth Announcement Challenge? Well, I was asked to judge the Make A Wish Birthday Party Challenge as well. And it’s a tough one. There were almost 400 submissions and so many amazing designs. What a challenge it’s been to narrow down my favorites to the top 6. But I did it. It’s done.
If you don’t mind, I could sure use your feedback in this final stage. It would be great if you would help me pick the winner. Leave a comment and let me know what you think of the top six birthday invitation designs (see below). Which one do you think is the most creative or has the best concept? Do you have a favorite?
Can’t wait to see what you think!
kisses,
Gabrielle
P.S. — Extra fun. This is also a super-cool giveaway. Leave a comment below and you’re entered to win a $150 gift certificate to Minted. You could use it to order birthday invites, or baby announcements, or holiday cards, or we’re moving announcements. The winner will be announced on Monday.

UPDATE: Thanks for your feedback, everyone. I’m declaring Design Number Three as the official invite winner. Also Congratulations to Briana! You are the lucky giveaway winner.

#3 is my favorite, but I’m slightly bias since I have two boys!
Wow you’re right – tough call! They are all darling…but I have to go with #6.
PS – GREAT photos of June!
number 1 is my favorite. love the overall look of it the best, although they are all cute!
Lovely! I’ve narrowed it down to 1 and 3 but can’t choose beyond that!
P.S. I do hope I win…my baby Nathaniel is nearly 5 mos and I still haven’t done a baby announcement. It isn’t too late, is it? (Please say no!)
No. 3 is really cute! Thanks for the giveaway!
I really like #2, #3, and #5, but I think #2 is the best design.
They are all great, but I vote for #2. It just captures the spirit of a pool party so well. I think invitations should always let you know what to expect from a party, and this one is spot-on.
I like #6! It’s one of the few that says what it’s for (a birthday party)–I’m a writer, so I like that kind of detail… adds to the storyline of the piece. And I love the little butterfly that helps tie the photo in to the text part of the card! nice!
Oooh, I like number 1. I think the photo is number 6 is the cutest, but the design in number 1 is adorable!
I like #2. The design is clear and functional and the info is easily read and understood. Cute!
I think # 3 is the most creative. well done on all!
Gosh…they’re all great. I’m partial to 1 and 5, though, which seem to give the kids more center stage.
Oh, I just LOVE number one. It’s adorable! Cute stuff all around.
I like #5 because it would look good on my fridge long after the party :)
#3! Very clever and I think the color choice is sophisticated but still playful
I like Claudia’s pool party the best because it really incorporates the picture into the design, making it personalized, but still with great design.
love #1 and #5 – must be the elephants! and with a baby on the way this giveaway is perfect!
I love number 3, mostly because my son would go crazy for it.
No. 1 is my favorite! The colors and design are perfect!
Love Minted! #2 is my fave.
I like # 1 the best, for overall look. I think #4 is great for an older child’s party…love it.
If I win this, maybe I will finally get around to sending out birth announcements for our first child. The others can wait. : )
I’d go for #1. Thinking of all the adults-with-reading-glasses kinds, this one is super clear and the colors are just superb!
Definitely number three. It’s modern and retro at the same time. The design caters to the adult-inner child but is also interesting for children not too grownup. This card is not so much a pieced together graphic but an all-in-one composition that goes places. Great use of positive and negative space, and colour.
NUMBER 3 is the ONE FOR ME.
The first one is my favorite. #5 is also cute, but I have a hard time with 1-year-old parties.
ooh…toss up between number 2 and number 5!
2 because I just like the concept but 5 because I love the colour and the knock-out elephants
Number 5 is definitely my favorite! I’m a sucker for elephants and the color green.
I love numbers 3 and 5!
1, 2, and 5 come close to a tie for me in all around greatness. But, I’ll have to say that 1 has the upper hand in my heart. I’m a big fan of simplicity, and making the child the ‘main event’ on the announcement, which I think these three cards did an excellent job of.
I think #2 is really cute.
They are all very fun! #3 and #5 are my faves though.
i love #2
They’re all adorable, but I love the graphic across the picture in #6 — really ties things together and gives added interest/depth.
#5 #5 #5
<3
#5 is my favorite. I love the bright color and the elephants.
I like #5. Very simple, but still really cute!
#5 is GORGEOUS!! Love it.
#5 gets my vote – although I have to say they are all super sweet and original!
And I am in the market for some birth announcements so please throw my name in the hat! :)
#5 and #6. Classy, cute and friendly to the eye.
I LOVE number five. That’s my favorite.
I love the first one. Definitely the most catchy.
#2 is striking! I love it. Wish I had a pool so I could use this idea!
I am currently online trying to find an amazing announcement for our new addition–thanks for the recommendation to Minted. I like #1.
My favorite is #6. I think it’s the photo in that one that makes it so adorable!
I like the first best.
Wow hard decision! I like number 4 – it seems like it would be appropriate for a lot of ages and different types of parties.
I’m loving #1 for sure!
I love number 1 the most, and number 5 in second place. So cute, all of them though!
my picks are 3 or 5, what a tough job that must have been. I love minted! used them for my christmas cards. Would love to win another batch!
I have to say number 1 is my favorite…I love how the colours compliment eachother :)
Having 3 boys, I loved #5, but all are darling!
I love #5! The elephants work no matter the gender and I love the rounded edges (reminiscent of baby proofing, anyone?)
I love number 3! Clever and cute.
#1 is my favorite. I think the colors in the photo so perfectly match the colors in the graphics. The slight tipping of the letters add a bit of imbalance that gives the invitation a sense of informality (which is what a child’s birthday party should be, right?!). I love the elephant and the bird, too!
I think I like #2 – pool party the best. It feels a bit more like something new. Everything else I kind of feel like I’ve seen before.
I love #3! Great use of space and graphics, and the photo does not overpower the design – tough to find sometimes…
I love #1. The pop of color is really eye catching. I really like the concept of #3 but the photo is too small and cuts out too much of the kids face.
#4 or #6 would be my top picks. I could really use that gift certificate with the new baby announcements and summer birthdays! I will win…I will win… I will win…
I like #2 as well. Cuteness!
My favorite is #1. It looks the most customized to me — the picture, the layout, and colors all work together so beautifully. It would be difficult to change the photo or child’s name without changing the entire feel of the invitation. That might be a bad thing if you’re looking for a template that can be reused over and over, but it is perfect as a one-of-a-kind invitation.
Number 3. It is hysterical!
Also, I should really win this. I am moving AND having my first baby in the next six months. Help a sister out!
#5!!
Number 1 is good but number 2 is different than anything I’ve seen out there. It feels like a pool party!
The white pottery silhouettes in #4 Reagan’s party are lovely. Pretty grown-up girl colors too.
#1 – Great Layout, Color Palette, Photo…I love everything about it! It’s REALLY well done!
My favorite is #5. I would totally use that for my son!
5 is my favorite.
I was distracted by two things in some of the others: #1 said a third birthday, and the kid looks seven (I know it is just a template and it doesn’t really matter, but it distracted me and I couldn’t see the rest of the design).
#3 uses an Illustrator CS3 template to make some of the shapes. I recognized it, and again, was distracted.
That said, they are all darling!
Love, Love Love number three. Crossing my fingers I will have minted invited for my lil guy’s first b-day.
Love #3…the graphics are so cute and I love that color combo :)
#2 the pool party – so cute!
Fantastic giveaway!!!
oh I would love to win this giveaway for my baby’s first b-day!
#1 is my favorite! Contests are so much fun.
*Eva
#1 is my favorite. Clean and crisp, but also playful and fun, as any children’s birthday party invite should be! Also LOVE the colors.
# 3 is the best :)
I like #3, cute with the little face peaking through the front window! Cleaver :)
#1 for sure. It’s gender neutral, good for a wider age range than some of the others, and could be used for any type of party. They’re all pretty cute though.
They’re all adorable but I have to choose #3. Love the colors, the perspective and the fun way the photo is incorporated. #1 is a close second.
I liek #6 the best.
I like #1
i love #3
I love #5. I like how it really minimilized the invitation print. This can be displayed in a frame for years to come. It is very cute.
3 and 5 get my vote.
5 for the most unique and eye-catching bold graphics.
I like #2 — makes me want to take the kids swimming.
Number one! It is fresh, fun and both simple and complex at the same time… love it!
#6 is so sweet for a 2 year old girl!
I’m sure there’s no need to ask this, but — those home addresses and phone numbers have been falsified, right? Signed, Paranoid. :)
#3 is too cute. It made me lol.
#3 is the most unique. I love the bold design element of the car and how different it is from the other designs. The only thing is there should be a helmet around the head so he doesn’t look like a floating bobble head on top of the car.
#5 is my favorite, very creative!!
I like #5 – it’s graphic and simple and I love the color!
I vote for number 1. It can be easily edited for different ages, and I love the fact that the child’s name is big, bold, and bright.
You’re right, these are all great. But if I had to choose one, I’ve gotta go with #3.
#6
I agree with many of the previous commenters– they are all great, but I think #1 is best overall. It’s straightforward enough that the information is easily accessible, but still fresh, unexpected and playful, and the colors are cheerful and gender- and age-neutral, making it versatile!
i love #2!
how lovely!
i like the first one. elephants and birds are my faves.
I like number 2 and number 3
I have 2 boys so I am partial to the race car (#3) invite. Too cute! Although, I have a girl on the way so my preference might be changing soon :) All of them are darling!
So hard, they are all so cute! But, the colors in #1 are so pretty. I am a sucker for orange and blue together, in fact those are the colors of my son’s nursery!
