Dad Gift Idea: Helveticards

June 9, 2010

Isn’t this the coolest deck of cards ever? I thought it would make a fun gift for any hipster husbands out there. I’ve never really offered a Father’s Day gift guide, but I thought I’d share a few ideas this week if inspiration hits me.

Are you a Helvetica font fan? Or a Helvetica-hater?

I don’t really have an opinion of Helvetica font…but I would love a Father’s Day gift guide! My husband wanted a frisbee golf set this year. Usually, I am at a loss as to what to get him…
best,
Tina

ooh ooh ooh, love these cards. I do like Helvetica (mostly, but not when it’s oblique or italicized…) and I so enjoyed the documentary that came out a couple years ago too: http://www.helveticafilm.com/
Did you?

Very cool design! I’m kind of indifferent about Helvetica as a graphic designer. I don’t generally use it but I don’t hate it. I don’t really see what all the hype is about. (Now, I do HATE Comic Sans and Papyrus, though! Some overly used they make me gag!!)

Love Helvetica, and the movie. I think someone should make a film about how awful Comic Sans is.

Okay, as a teacher I just wanted to note that elementary school teachers use Comic Sans in the classroom because it looks like handwriting and is a good model for their students. So, please give your kids’ teachers a break of they use Comic Sans! But I personally never took it out of the classroom! (And on my Mac, I prefer Chalkboard anyway.) If you don’t mind my venting, I think Curlz might be even more overused… :)

My husband would LOVE these and I would officially become the best wife ever if I got him these. Too bad they are 4-6 weeks out, wish I had seen these sooner.

I definitely like Helvetica, and I’ve seen the movie twice {both times for my design courses} … my favourite font at the moment is Rockwell though!

I’m Helvetica neutral. Don’t looove it, but it has it’s place. I do, however, loooove these cards! (Although my “strictly Hoyle” hubby probably wouldn’t.)
