Oh my goodness. I can hardly believe it. My blog is all shiny and new.
I gave it a makeover (Like the new logo? Please say yes.) and the super capable team at Leap Design transferred the site from Blogger to WordPress.
Please do make yourself at home.
And if you’re looking for a particular post, hopefully I’ve made it much easier to find. You can start with the search bar in the right sidebar. Or check out the Ask Design Mom archive. You can even find handy pages featuring Guest Mom Posts and Picture Books. Want to search my archives? You can find them in a drop down menu in the right sidebar as well.
A couple of technical items:
1) The transfer dropped basically every comment that I received from Friday evening till Monday evening. Total bummer! They didn’t completely disappear into the ether — I received an email of every comment and read each one of them (Thank you as always for the comments. I adore them.). If you are frustrated that your comment hasn’t show up in the Custom Toy Art Giveaway here’s the dealio: I took into account every entry I received whether it currently shows up or not. Promise. Cross my heart.
2) For those of you who read Design Mom using an RSS reader (like Google Reader), I’m still futzing with it a bit — trying to see if I can continue using the old feed so that you don’t have to resubscribe. I’ll let you know as soon as I have an answer.
3) Mostly, thank you for your patience as the kinks get worked out. Design Mom Readers are the best!
Other than that, we should be good to go. Please let me know if you’re having trouble accessing parts of the new site. And I’d love to hear if you like the new design.
I also want to note: normally, transferring a blog from one platform to another would be fairly straightforward, but a combination of circumstances (like a highly customized, yet old-school Blogger template paired with almost 3000 posts) made this transfer less than easy. I wouldn’t have trusted the job to anyone but Leap.

Wow, this is quite a change, I thought my bookmark wasn’t working properly and sent me to a wrong site lol. It looks really good, though! More designy for some reason, although I must say I did love the old banner as well.
I’m still figuring out the design/template thing for my blog as well, but then my blog is really just starting up, so I can imagine the work and stress involved when you already have such a wealth in posts, comments and followers. Good job!

Yes, very nice indeed. Am wodering why the switch? I just started on blogger. Still not quite sure how to do so many thing and make it look exactly how I want but I learn a little every day. You are an inspiration. One of the reasons I chose Blogger was the blogs I like and read most often were on there (including yours) so I’m curious why you switched? I love that image of you on the top right – seems to fit your life. I like having the tabs on the top, easy to get around. Did you consider putting them under your logo? Just a quick note to let you know about something that you might find interesting for your new shiny blog. After twenty years of illustrating award winning children’s books I have opened the flat files and begun offering original works at a small Etsy shop. I have worked with galleries like Storyopololis in Los Angeles in the past but I found after the gallery markup the price point would break most budgets when decorating a nursery or kids room. My goal is to get the original work out to collectors at an affordable price so that it can be enjoyed by kids and design savvy parents. All the pieces are one of a kind heirloom originals produced for my many books.
I posted a short piece about “why I am selling my original work” at my blog.

It looks great! Were there specific reasons to switch, I sometimes have trouble with setting up my posts on blogger, my hubby has real trouble and tries to get me to help…that’s like the blind leading the blind!

Love your new look — very fresh and clean (but then, so was the old one!) I really like how accessible everything is. Great job!
Beautiful, simple and clean. I reluctantly have one criticism. I love the advertisers that support your blog! I am not, however, a fan of blinking graphics and find the ads that are blinking quite distracting. I feel they take away from the calm and wonderful feel of your delightful blog.

The new look is lovely! There’s just one little thing that bothers my eye, which is that (at least on my screen) the pictures don’t ‘stay’ in their own areas. I mean that as you have three columns on the page, the pictures jump on another columns side as well as if they’re too wide. I know that’s a minor thing though… Still, it all looks lovely and the search function is the best.
