Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing

August 3, 2009

I love this. Sufjan singing one of the world’s prettiest hymns.

Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
Prone to leave the God I love;
Here’s my heart, O take and seal it,
Seal it for Thy courts above.

my 2nd favorite-ever version of my absolute favorite hymn. only the motab outdoes sufjan. his version of holy holy holy is also a major keeper.

And, Gabby, I have a photographic book of Nick Brandt's – On This Earth – with many of these beautiful animal pictures.

I had been trying to remember this song — we heard it on Prarie Home Companion Saturday. I love that same portion you quoted. Thank you!

My favorite hymn (why oh why wasn't it included in the green hymnals?). Are you equally in love with Sufjan's Christmas carols? We listen to many of them year round.

hands down my favorite hymn ever. ever. the byu choir did a most lovely version several years ago. I'm quite taken with this one though.

That's my favorite hymn of all time. It was interesting seeing it with the safari images. Very beautiful!

H-m-m… Seems as though Robert Robinson's "Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing" is a favourite of quite a few folks. Great hymn. And the story behind the words you quote is quite amazing. I invite you to check in out on my Wordwise Hymns blog for June 9th. (You can also add the hymn to my Favourite Hymn Poll there.
