I love the idea of a quote on the wall too! I saw this quote on a children’s painting once and it stuck w/me, “Grow where you are planted.” I think it’s simple and to the point!

You’re off to Great Places!
Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting.
So…get on your way!

Or something like that…from Through the Looking Glass.

From The Giving Tree

Of course we have trees painted on the walls . . .

By: joolee joolee Tue, 31 Mar 2009 12:58:00 +0000 is a place to find great quotes from books and authors! I don’t think you need to be a member to find quotes, but here are some of my favorites:
“Be yourself, everyone else is taken.” -Oscar Wilde
“Always do what you are afraid to do.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson
“If you don’t stand for something you will fall for anything.”
-Malcolm X

By: LR LR Tue, 31 Mar 2009 11:49:00 +0000 I’m a big fan of Shel Silverstein. Check out his poem thqt goes “You have a magic carpet…” and the one about “If you are a dreamer…” and then the one that goes “Listen to the mustn’ts, child, listen to the don’ts/Listen to the impossibles, the shouldn’ts and the won’ts/Listen (close?) to everything, then listen close to me… /Anything can happen, child, anything can be.” You need to look these up though b/c I’m writing from memory…

–peter pan

let the wild rumpus start
–where the wild things are

dare double dare you cant catch me, I’ll beat you to the top of the coconut tree!

I’d also recommend Little Women or Anne of Green Gables or You Are My I Love You as resources. Mufaros Beautiful Daughters may also have a nice little phrase.

By: lisa lisa Tue, 31 Mar 2009 09:43:00 +0000 How about,

Fairy tales are true; not because they tell us that dragons exist but because they tell us that they can be beaten.

By: cortney cortney Tue, 31 Mar 2009 09:05:00 +0000 I have a sticker that that I love and was going to put this saying up on my daughters wall
“Little girls dream of Magical things.”

By: Jessica @ A Bushel and a Peck Jessica @ A Bushel and a Peck Tue, 31 Mar 2009 08:28:00 +0000 My favorite:

Hope is the thing with feathers,
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without the words,
And never stops at all.

-Emily Dickinson

By: R-Eight R-Eight Tue, 31 Mar 2009 07:21:00 +0000 Peter Pan again:

When the first baby laughed for the first time. The laugh broke into a thousand peices and they all went skipping about and the was the begining of fairies.

By: Laurie Laurie Tue, 31 Mar 2009 07:21:00 +0000 Oh, I LOVE these ideas! Thank you!! It is going to be so hard to choose…

By: Alice Alice Tue, 31 Mar 2009 07:05:00 +0000 Hi! I love the Peter Pan quotation:
“Just think lovely wonderful thoughts: they will lift you up in the air”

from the flying scene in chapter III

Good luck!

By: Brenna Brenna Tue, 31 Mar 2009 01:28:00 +0000 “we are one
and that’s wonderful
you are you
and theres never gonna be anyone like you
never gonna be anyone like you”

Clearly, children’s literature is a hit! I would also suggest children focused music. This chorus comes from the song “we are one” by Renee and Jeremy. (That really is the name of their duo, plain and simple. :) Good luck with your word choice!

By: Emily Emily Tue, 31 Mar 2009 01:04:00 +0000 What I want my kids to always remember is what I would put on the wall…”I am a Child of God”
