The Nutcracker

Saturday night we went to The Nutcracker at Lincoln Center, performed by the New York City Ballet.

We won tickets a couple of months ago at a Scout Fundraising Auction, and had been looking forward to this eagerly. We had 4 tickets and debated whether one parent should take the 3 oldest kids, or 2 parents should take 2 kids and decided on the latter, so it was date night with Olive, Maude, Ben Blair and me.

Dinner first. Followed by the Nutcracker, with fourth row orchestra seats (oooh la la!). Then we bundled into our coats and walked out of the theater. . . into a light snow fall. At which point we started using words like magical and lucky and amazing.

It's hard to beat silk party dresses, ballet and a snowy December night in the city.
It plum wore my girls out.

How wonderful! I cannot wait till Abby and Cami are old enough for this! My Mom took us every year when we lived back east.

Some of my favourite pictures of my girls are when they are sacked out in the backseat after a great adventure.

Sounds like a lovely evening and your girls looked beautiful.

Oh, this fabulous and I'm so glad you took your girls. I loved the Nutcracker when I was little (danced around the living room to the record), and then fell in love with Baryshnikov later on. ;) I agree with Erin, I can't wait to take my little one.

I'm all teary remembering the first time I saw The Nutcracker. I was 9 and while it wasn't Lincoln Center and there was no snow (TX), it was magical, all the same. What a wonderful experience for your family!!!

I'm not sure if I am disappointed in Ben or proud of Ralph with this decision.
