Halloween Decorations 2007 – Part Two

October 15, 2007

In addition to the leaf masks, we’ve had these amazing trick-or-treater illustrations since we were new parents. My mom gave them to us. Oddly, they were part of a promotion at her local bank (checking, savings and pictures of trick-or-treaters?) and she asked for any extra sets they had.

They’re printed on heavy cardstock and feature both the back and front of the costumes, so we’re careful to display these in a way that lets you see both sides — never against a wall. In past homes, they’ve hung from the ceiling. In this house they hang from a wide entryway. And movement, like the door opening, or kids walking by, sets them slowly turning.

These are my very, very favorite Halloween decorations. I find them so enchanting, that I have an unreasonable daydream that one year, my five kids will decide they want to be these five costumes. It will never happen.

Speaking of never, I’ve never been able to find the name of the artist — so if you happen to know the source, please do fill me in.

Some of my wedding decorations came from my parent’s cell phone company. Lucky for me, I happened to run errands with my dad and spied them. They were big medalions and exactly the thing I needed to pull it all together. They actually inspired the whole color theme. Good design in random places– it’s the best!

love those illustrations — i would guess they are from a children’s book — i bet a browse through the halloween books at the children’s section of the bookstore would reveal the illustrator.

my children are convinced that we’re like “the only people in the world” who celebrate halloween that have yet to do anything in the way of preparing for it ;-)
your home looks so beautiful and those illustrations are indeed delightful!!!

G, they’re out of a book we get from the library every year this time. The kids all take off their human face masks at the end and reveal that they are real ghouls.

I can’t come up with the name of it, but next time we check it out, I’ll email you.

Love, love, love the ravens over the piano. Going to borrow that one for our own piano top. If I can find it under all my folders!

Those are darling Halloween illustrations. And to think your mom got them at the bank, of all places. Happy Halloween!

I found them in an old issue of PRINT (sept./Oct. 2001). They were cards designed by Kendall Liddle from FJCandN and the illustrator was Don Kilpatrick. The client was Zions Bank.
So glad to have found them!
