I heart these books. And Shutterfly makes it so easy to put one together. You upload your digital pictures and then drag and drop them into a template. You can add photos to the cover and even add text to the spine.
I especially like the idea of these "Guided Books" because they do some of the thinking for you. A very good thing after a busy day. The Father's Day version offers prompts like: “People admire you for…” “You always say…” and “Our funniest moments. . .” You just answer the questions and add the pictures. The just-launched books come in sturdy hardback covers sized at either 12 x 12 or 8 x 8, and start at $43.99 and $23.99, respectively.
What kind of book will you make? A travel journal? Baby's first year? A recipe book? Think of grabbing all of your mother's/grandfather''s/family's recipes and entering them into the copy, then adding photos of the chefs or of family meals. What an heirloom that would be. A really wonderful gift.
Shutterly also offers lots of other add-a-photo options: personalized playing cards, coasters, luggage tags, keychains, mugs, calendars — even aprons.

I just made a book, using Shutterfly, for my mother-in-law for Mother's Day. It's the best!!! It's my new approach to keeping photo albums up-to-date. And a great way to immortalize a favorite family vacation. My sister's mother-in-law did a "My Favorite Things" book for each of them for Christmas--what an heirloom that is! I could go on and on, but I've got to get dragging and dropping my pics into my next photo book project!

We have done these for years as presents for grandparents. We also send one a few times a year to my childrens birth families...one for each sibling that they have. It is so easy, cheap and fun...
