Book of the Week: Many Moons
Love this very sweet story by James Thurber. My mom introduced this to me years ago and it is beloved by my children. The princess Lenore has fallen sick from eating too many raspberry tarts and only having the moom fetched for her will make her well. Haven't we all been there?
The princess content makes it seem like it will be a girl book, but it's actually not very frilly and my boys like the story as well. The illustrations by Louis Slobodkin are amazing — they practically float off the page.

That looks like a fab book. We'll have to check it out.
Nice pick, design mom. I adore everything by that crowd of mid-century New York and New Yorker affiliated writers: James Thurber, E.B. White, William Steig. No condescending or pandering to the chidlren, but no ugly knowing cynicism, either. There must have been something in the water.
The Easter Bunny brings books to our house. I (or the Easter Bunny, I should say) got this for Samuel a few years back and we absolutely love it.
I've totally been there.
Louis Slobodkin was one of favorite illustrators when I was young. Has everyone seen his book about The 100 Dresses?
